SirTwist
I have been having trouble with Homemaker, SSex, Simple Intersection, and other building mods. The problem, near as I can tell, is not the mods, or their compatibility patches, rather it is the keyword mod that is "needed" to make the mods work. I feel that this is the problem, rather than all the other mods. Why should I, as a mod user, who may want to make mods down the road, but right now is trying to play the game, need these keyword mods at all? Should they not be inside the mod already, and running, instead of me having to download 20 files just to make one mod work? I know, people are going to say that you need the CK for it, or you can't use the mods without the keywords, or whatnot. It is not us mod users that really needs these things. It is the mod makers who do.
DoctorKaizeld
some mod owners dont want their work redistributed and want people to download straight from them. this means their mod cant be wrapped up inside anothers and released. dont worry though in time things will be far more stream lined and simple. SirTwist
Qwerty, thanks for your reply. I will make more sense here. Here's my problem with some of the mods out there. When I use Home maker, SSex, and a few others, I CTD. I am not 100% sure what is causing it. However, one culprit is the settlement keyword mod, and everyone using it to "update" their mods. It is probably not the keyword mod, but rather all of them that can't play nicely together. I think that it is a good idea, and that the keywords can be added to the mods themselves, rather than having one mod, the keyword mod, then like three individual patch mods to make it all work. (Plus compatibility mods for it all to really work.) I'm complaining, yes, but trying to raise people's awareness that there might be a potential problem somewhere. The nearest I can tell is in those mods, somewhere. After I removed all of them, I didn't get a CTD, at all. I can't lay my finger on a culprit, right now. I need my Mod Organizer back, and in full working order, to really get a good read on everything. For now, I'm going to use just vanilla for things, until things smooth over. And I know they will. Anyway, I needed to rant, and I just needed to take a little time to point a few things out. I am thinking about getting into modding after I play through the game, and seeing what's what. And how easy/hard it is to do so. Of course, with a creation kit, it just might make everything a whole lot easier.
DoctorKaizeld
ah that makes more sense. dont worry things will get smoothed out in a few months. I am thinking about getting into modding after I play through the game, and seeing what's what. And how easy/hard it is to do so. Of course, with a creation kit, it just might make everything a whole lot easier.the GECK will help a lot, but that all depends on what you're doing. though once it is released a lot of modders will start uploading stuff and that is when i think things will get to be easier and less of a pain to deal with. slevin92
The problem with keywords is the game is limited to a certain number. And settlement mods like homemaker/Ssex etc.. add way too many keywords. Peoples made an esm to reduce a little bit all duplicated/unuseful keywords. Now it's up to modder to use it to make compatible all their mods together. But until they completely use this esm as master, other peoples patch these mods to use it. The result is a lot of patches for a lot of mods but normally, you should have less ctd / menu lag / invisible stuff and categories.
