Everyone does it differently but when you are done with your work an artist usually leaves their mark on their work. I'm not saying you should throw a big signature across the front of it. But I am becoming a huge fan of a lot of these great mod authors that are doing fantastic things for this game. If we started doing this now I feel like it would be a huge deal after the proper tools come out and a new wave of mod authors jump on the bandwagon. I feel like you guys should find a hidden little spot on the back of everything you make an leave a personalized little logo. I would say use a signature but you may notice that almost everything in Fallout 4 is advertised using a logo of some kind already so as long as the logo isn't ridiculous it would still be immersive. This is an area that provides a lot of room for creativity and is very easy to do. You only have to create the logo one time, and then just slap it on the side of that "Nuka Cola Machine" like you do all the rest of your mods. This is how you turn your mod into an original and recognizable product. To create Logos with immersion I imagine you would create the logo how you want, then add a rusty or muddy layer over it and boom, looks like crap, ready for Fallout 4! Though I suppose if they wanted to steal it still they could erase your signature. But still. Maybe I should've put my signature on this idea!!!! (Seriously kidding, lol.) JuJooGuppy Posted January 18, 2016 Share Posted January 18, 2016 Yeah, I view this idea as two-fold really, and, should I ever get competent at modeling & / or texturing, I plan to use a small makers-mark myself, because as mentioned above: It makes your mods (your 'brand' / "identification") visible / noted, and provides a small (albit easily breakable) anti-theft measure. Its a simple touch.If I were to be making several standalone weapons or armors or such, I definitely would look into the idea of setting up my own in-game lore-friendly(ish) shop and such. Definitely the way to go. Could be as simple as a little weapons stand w/ a little backstory, or as complex as a unique town built around your mods.Either way, its a great concept and can be taken in some great directions :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sometimes that 'stealing' doesn't even happen on purpose. Like someone mentioned in another thread: When you have hundreds of textures it gets difficult to track the sources. That is much easier if everyone just adds a logo or a marker and contact info in the texture - maybe in the area that isn't used on the model in the game. A player wouldn't see it, but other modders would see the marker when they open the file. Optimum would be: Logo for the players (visible area) and copyright marker + contact info for other modders (invisible).
