Moraelin
Well, yeah, .45 is 11.5mm bullet diameter, while 10mm is 10.2mm bullet diameter, so I figured, I wouldn't necessarily need a new barrel mesh. It's still in the plausible range when you eyeball it in the game. Why is it weak... well, now that's a pretty good question. I'm guessing it was just a balance consideration. You can encounter them pretty early in the game, and they have a high rate of fire. So if they also did high damage per shot, well, half the players would rage-quit while trying to save Valentine. Mind you, I'm no psychic, so I don't know what they thought. But if I had to take a wild guess, that would be it.
DrIvanRadenkovic
I think that it is standard gaming balance thing that SMGs are weak, for some reason or the other. Well, for the Valentine Mission, the Players could get armored up. And the difference between the cartridges is 1.3 difference, and yet, the .45 aka 11.5 mm is garbage compared to the 10mm. If there was an Pistol for the .45, I think that things might be different, and now that i am on the Suggestion Train, 10mm SMG as well is needed. Moraelin
Well, the 10mm Auto IS a more powerful round (depending on the exact load and bullet). The .45's main advantage is more or less just that it doesn't waste much energy. It spreads the impact around more, and is very good at basically converting all the energy into destroyed tissue. DrIvanRadenkovic
There is a mod that overhauls the weapons and gives them more recievers. Weapons Mod mod. I found it when I was looking for some stuff to see if the .38 has anything better, and I got a link to that mod. Very nice.
Moraelin
Yeah, as I've said, making a receiver is trivial, if you don't need a new mesh. So there are a few good mods out there for new calibers and such. I only made mine because, well, it had to be silver-plated. I can't BE the Silver Shroud and run around with a non-silvered SMG, now can I?
Warmaker01
NPCs making good use of weapons against the player has always been an issue. Toss in player mods, Ballistic Weave into everything, then those NPCs are not going to touch you at all.
Moraelin
Well, Ballistic Weave is good, but basically let's not forget that one hour into the game you're given something that can do a lot more in a boss fight: power armour. Or that you can just go east from Sanctuary to find some better PA. Or hell, just get Prydwen to come, and you get T60b. Which is actually pretty good. So, yeah, I don't think you were actually supposed to have any super-tough fights in this game. Even without Ballistic Weave, if a boss hands you your rear like twice in a row, and if you were smart enough to make a hard save at some point before, you can just hop over to where you keep your PA collection, hop into some pimped-out PA, and nuke the boss with extreme prejudice.
