DonCorleone
To be honest, i wasn't really that interested in FNV until i heard it was out. I immediately bought it and it was great (except the bugginess but can't have everything can't we). And one day i was searching for FNV trailers and i found this trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epFupigyIN8 I saw a Victor with a angry face and behind him i saw a metropolis actually untouched by nuclear fire and way bigger than the new vegas in the game itself. So i'm wondering if i'm the only one or are there more people dissapointed when they see this trailer PS: I didn't find similar topics but in case there in fact is one i will hear it. falloutperson416
Oh yes, I agree with you. That's why the NVR and NVSO teams are working hard to make a Strip that was similar to the one in that trailer there. Here are the links to the mod pages if you want to check them out: 1. New Vegas Restoration - NVR 2. New Vegas Strip Overhaul - NVSO
AveTruetoCaesar
A lot of people where Disappointed. However, making New Vegas like a real city would've taken up a lot of space in the game, meaning all the small towns would have to be taken out. Vegas isn't the only good location in the game
DonCorleone
you have a point AveTruetoCaesar. I wouldn't have wanted a map covered 95% by the city. but in the trailer I also saw that the city is about as large as The Strip, Freeside and Westside altogether and it seems that the city lays on the far north of the map instead of the upper center. I think if New Vegas would be bigger if only they hadn't destroyed everything around the strip leaving only freeside livable of the outer Vegas ring. If they kept the city altogether with all the districts that are now ruins- not destroyed then we already would've had a city where you get the feeling there is no wasteland. Some ruins on the south ring and a Strip entrance that let's rich people with expensive clean scarce clothing just go to the strip instead of venturing through the dangerous slums of freeside. I Wouldn't dare to let my customers risk their lifes before they run out of Caps. And faloutperson416 I have indeed both your recommended mods installed for a while now and enjoy every single thing of them. But thanks for the advice anyway. Sparil
Obsidian could never do what Bethesda did with Fallout 3's massive Washington DC. The developers were just too lazy and opted to slap in some mountains. Sad fact is that some of the mountains weren't even finished because some have missing parts in them that you can fall on. Heck. The place is mostly desert and a rehash of the non-city areas in Fallout 3 so the job has been done beforehand already. Just a lack of quality control and lack of commitment that has become prevalent in most games nowadays considering that this is a multi-million dollar project that has an army of developers. Got to admit though, New Vegas is a lot more fun to play than Fallout 3.

minngarm
sad really, they could have done a hell of a lot if they just did the city like DC in FO3, which does not take up most of the map, infact its at most 1/4th of the map. then considering NV has 2/3rds of the map with invisible walls that keep you out... yeah, they really slacked off. MMan3000
Yes actually but I think there are mods to connect the sections of the strip and it looks fantastic.
eLucifer
Well, OP, you're actually one of many. There are lots of people who were disappointed by the size of the Strip. Supposedly, the Strip itself along with Freeside AND Westside is the area you see in the trailer, but that's still too small to be actual New Vegas. To compensate, New Vegas is based on the Las Vegas of 1930-40-50's, not the Vegas today. Edited April 16, 2011 by eLucifer
KennethKarl
I wasn't dissapointed, but I wasn't blown out of my chair either. I did like how they added in more weapons. The thing that pissed me off was that a good portion of the map was navmeshed off. It seems like almost half the map really. I still love it though despite it's numerous flaws.
