Armor Skin request

This sounds like a fun idea and very immersive with the male sole survivor's military background so I'll give this a try for you. I'm quite new to modding fallout so I can't guarantee the best results, but I'm more than happy to make the attempt. Just a couple of details that'd help to know.

Is there a particular set of power armor that you'd prefer to have this on? Each type of power armor has a different shape and so needs to be retextured individually.

What rank should the sole survivor be?

Should I add medals to the chest of the Dress Blue uniform power armor?

While I'm working on this (might take a few days to get good results), there's the USMC-style Hexo-Flage X-01 Power Armor paint set by Dominic2005 which might be close to what you're looking for.

Thanks...

I like the X-01 for armor type

And the hexo's are great and all...

But I was thinking more simple

Something like the space Marine sets, except USMC or MARINES across the chest rather than the crested falcon. EGA's or Ranks on the shoulders. EGA's on the knees... like.... literally wearing a Marine T-shirt style on your armor.

Colors could be black or Navy Blue. or for that touch of something extra, Black tops, Navy Blue legs with a red blood stripe...

Red piping of course... because.... duh... hell... not sure how possible, but maybe even EGA's on the eyes.

I'm not wanting the camo patterns, which are great, I'm just wanting some "in your face motard" kinda stuff

Now... if you wanna add Rank... I'm a bit partial to Sgt myself

Now, even if this never works till GECK... THANK YOU

You're welcome. Don't worry, we don't need to wait for GECK for this. It's simply a retexture which I can do in photoshop now that some plug-ins are available that can read the new format. I just finished doing another retexture today and it works just fine without GECK.

I won't be able to change the shape of the power armour, but I can certainly change the colour and decoration to include some USMC insignia and colours. It's getting quite late over here in Australia but I'll start work on this tomorrow and try to get some nice Marine power armour going for you. I'll probably have something in a day or two for you to try out. Very excited to work on this, I love the USMC dress blues.

DUDE!!!!

Are those EGA's as the shoulder tabs? DUDE!!!!

Big Ole' EGA on the Chest? NCO not Officer of course....

I'm looking forward to seeing this.... seriously OUTSTANDING!!

Thanks. Yeah, there are normally rivets there but I've replaced them with a gold EGA button to represent the gold buttons on the dress blue uniform. I can do a large EGA on the front-piece as well if you'd like. I went with an E-5 sergeant for the rank insignia, but I can easily change that if you'd prefer a staff sergeant or gunnery sergeant. I put that up high on the shoulder as epaulettes, you can just see both of them in red and gold there in this picture. I also put an eight year service stripe insignia on the cuffs since that seemed about right for his age and looked good. I've done some experimentation with the eyes and I believe I can have EGA logos on them to look like irises, but I haven't actually implemented it yet.

I've mostly finished what's known as the Diffuse Map, which is what places all the colours on the armour. However I still need to do the Normal Map, which allows small changes to the 3D shape, and also the Specular Map, which controls how light reflects off each part of the armour. Once that's done I'll package it all up into a simple mod you can install with NMM or just manually if you prefer.

It's my anniversary tomorrow though, so I probably won't be able to get it done for another day or so. Glad you're enjoying it so far. Hope you like the finished work when it's done.

Hey, so, just a random question first off, are you in the Marines? Because you sound like a motivator. I recently just re-downloaded a new 3D editor (3ds max) for modding and I myself am active duty USMC. I also went to school for arts kind of stuff. But, enough about me, I plan on making more Marine orientated mods when i get my skills back up to par.

I feel like the USMC would play a much more integral part in the fallout universe. I plan on making many USMC based (maybe other branches as well) armors, weapons, and hopefully quests and such in the near future and release them on nexus :P

anyhow, best of luck with this. That armor looks pretty awesome. Just remember, Anchors in-board.

Oorah.

I'm not a Marine myself (although I figure you were talking to SgtKUSMC rather than me), I'm Australian so not really an option. I just love the look of the uniform, so I'm excited to work on the project. I've had to look up a lot of the details online and research the symbols and insignia to try to get it right.

Oh thanks. I didn't know that but I just looked up the explanation. Unfortunately I think I have it back to front, so I'll switch that around.
