  1. Hey, so, just a random question first off, are you in the Marines? Because you sound like a motivator. I recently just re-downloaded a new 3D editor (3ds max) for modding and I myself am active duty USMC. I also went to school for arts kind of stuff. But, enough about me, I plan on making more Marine orientated mods when i get my skills back up to par. I feel like the USMC would play a much more integral part in the fallout universe. I plan on making many USMC based (maybe other branches as well) armors, weapons, and hopefully quests and such in the near future and release them on nexus :P anyhow, best of luck with this. That armor looks pretty awesome. Just remember, Anchors in-board. Oorah.
  2. I know this has been requested a year or so ago, but would anyone be up to making this? I've always thought of this set as one of the coolest armors designed and my current modelling skills are amatuer at best. Plus i'm suprised no one has made it yet. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tribunal:Royal_Guard_Armor
  3. Just playing around this weekend, think i might just give this one a go to get reacquainted with modelling..
  4. So, I just thought i'd stop by and start a random discussion. While losing much of my creative thinking due to working so much lately. I figured i'd brainstorm.. LORE FRIENDLY MODS: --Why i think they are important-- A lore friendly mod is integral to a game because, in keeping with the possible expansion of the series' territory it gives the player a sense of balance, whether knowingly or not that can not be found in more dynamic and intrusive mods. Thus, the overall sum of many lore friendly mods is not only in keeping with the traditional methods of modding but in and of itself furnishing the game-play with a much needed missing element. That element being solely, the presence of completeness.I believe you can have a game that is as silly as you want. It is YOUR game after all. But sometimes you want to play it different or understand it better. When a lore friendly mod is introduced it opens a new experience for seasoned as well as new modders to enjoy. And despite a Lore friendly mods reputation for being scrutinized on the basis that it "constricts" imagination and limits the player/modder to certain confines. It simply isn't true. For if it was, the game developers would never be able to introduce a new game later. Which as we all know. There is always a new game.Simply put, they are fun. So, now you've read all that banter, surely you're thinking "Why be so in depth for such a simple concept? This doesn't even seem that important." Well, here is my reasoning: In my search of creative ideas i thought i'd visit the Fallout wiki. Upon my exploration i found some good ideas and wanted to share them with you all and maybe bring to surface new ideas. For quest/armor/weapons... anything actually. Because, first and foremost i'm seeing a lot of requests for things that have been done again and again. Essentially I'm trying to stew the cauldron of creative thinking. Which seems to die so fast these days. Not only is this an endeavor to help come up with ideas and get the request thread to start requesting more realistic, albeit entertaining, enjoyable mods, it's to show new modders that you don't NEED a 200ft pink bunny that shoots laser cannons to have an enjoyable time modding (not that it isn't fun). Here are a few things i took note of while browsing the wiki and thought would maybe steer people in new directions as far as creating and developing lore friendly mods all the while maintaining much of the uniqueness of any one persons ideas. These are basic observations at best, but perhaps they will inspire others to create great things. Read at your own discretion, it may be kind of long! Regarding WW2: The Nazi party was destroyed. However, the Soviet Union remained intact before the divergence. Why is this important? Because, According to lore, the US did not have hostile relations after the war (They were far too focused on China). Despite much of the "Communist Propaganda" found about the fallout games, much of the relations between the US and USSR had reached an agreeable level. (travel between the countries was permitted even). This leads to mods regarding Soviet forces, weapons, uniforms, items, being found in the fallout games, much more lore friendly then previously thought. (Russian visitors perhaps?) Hmm...http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Soviet_UnionIf the West was JUST at war with Germany and Japan. There would no doubt be references to that war as well found in the halted society. So far, i've seen none. All kinds of war "trophies" would've been brought back to America, some examples are Walther p38 pistols, German helmets, Japanese weapons etc. The United States: This one is kind of a catch-all kind of resource. Because it goes without saying; yes we have the entirety of the USA to use for our mods. Whether it's creating another worldspace or linking to something that's happened or has come from somewhere else. There is always something that can be looked up and made. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/United_States Some other things/places in America to possibly delve into:The different commonwealths and their factions/happenings. (Ex. Midwestern BoS, and other BoS can be found in several states)The Annexation of Canada by the US. (I immediately think, where are the Canadian freedom fighters? Surely there is some somewhere).http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/United_States_Armed_Forces This is a big area that, the series really doesn't like to get into it seems. Purely because its presence would negate a lot of what has happened in the case of the nuclear war. Because surely the navy would have more then a few ships at sea. And the army and airforce are mentioned much more then the other branches. They do mention that since the chain of command was broken there are in fact many splinter groups of troops remaining(enclave,BoS are exactly that.). Which means much of the military is probably still existent.Oh, Mexico got annexed too.Enclave is just the Pre-war government, they are your typical greedy government officials and military..the BoS is US Army deserters. Do with that as you will. There was in fact a Nuclear WinterAnyhow those are just some ideas, It is getting late and time for bed. In the meantime, what aspects to the lore of the game do YOU think could be best applied? What do you think are some cool things that could be made/done or explored further? maybe we can try making something happen! Here is some useful pages to help come up with ideas: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline#1942 (timeline of the fallout universe) https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zy5erQ51ukcU.ktGYzdDqm_wA (interactive map of the fallout universe, places where things have happened etc.)
  5. Well, its June. Almost July, is your test season over? Kinda would like an update!
  6. Hey everyone, been using mods for a while and i couldn't agree more that we need more (as well as quality) voice actors. I've never voice acted before but i am a Midwestern born American. Currently serving with the US Marines, so i can do...emotionless speaking, better perhaps? But more then likely speak with quality as well. I'm down with helping with any serious mods that will not just be personal mods. Mods with a purpose that are to be distributed more or less. Just give me a reply of what you'd like!
  7. bump- So i reviewed this video card and im seeing thats its not much better then a integrated chipset, i wanna run mods like New vegas interior lighting overhaul, NMCs texture replacers, wasteland defence, Armor and weapon mods, and other awesome mods, but not sure what i can do to up this system without spending a significant amount of money.. better graphics but then id need a new mother board wouldnt i? im way to newb to this all sorry :( i just wanna know if what i got will work... im getting close to leaving for Boot camp and wanna have this done..
  8. i dont mind trying to make new models, im not much of a texturer but modelling im starting to get into.. as for some things id like to see, id like to see some more basic things added to the buildings list: -More stairs, building blocks, houses, fences, Safes, Beds, you know, things that are geared toward making an actual community or home then just a base to stand in. Similar to real time settler. But, well, better. Enemys: Add some of the vanilla factions to the raid lists that are left out, and the ability to (if its implemented im not sure as ive not played this mod only watched it on Alchestbreach's youtube channel) make the enemy raids available depending on faction standings. So if your allied with Ncr they wont attack you etc etc. Also add things to the enemy that can help the player outside of just running their base, so things like ingredients and misc things on the enemies more...anyhow thats all i got :/
  9. hey im getting back into modelling and im pretty novice but im currently trying to model this to see if itll come out ok..got the grip done anyways.. ill let you know how it goes when im done with it, just in case its not in the Armory mod :P
  10. sweet, so this should be all i need to play vegas well plus the great mods that are out there correct? just want a definite answer as im looking at buying this today or tomorrow..and i dont want to get the wrong stuff if its not gunna be worth it
  11. i was wondering if anyone could make a slender man creature :) if you could thatd be awesome and id be uber grateful! animated and everything would be nice too :)
  12. So here is my list so far: Seagate Barracuda Green ST1000DL002 1TB 5900 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Bare Drive -Bare Drive ASRock A75 EXTREME6 FM1 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS ASUS HD7750-1GD5-V2 Radeon HD 7750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT51264BD1339 COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 Continuous Direct Contact 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler Compatible with latest Intel ... And i had Athlon II x4 631 for my cpu but newegg is out of them.. SO, Does anyone have any suggestions for a similar CPU or better? Also If you could give me any recommendations for a cheap compatable case thatd be great aswell...thank you for any responses or suggestions ! (hopefully this is everything i need) i have no idea what kind of cables ill need
  13. Any modders who are capable of trying this? just wondering, id love to see something like this done :)
  14. Hey, im wondering if its possible to add a new faction to spawn randomly in the mojave. Much like legion and NCR soldier.. however i want all of the factions spawns to be bumped up because i hardly ever see any of them.. so i in a way want a three way battle..if anyone could point me to a mod that can help me do this thatd be great, or rather explain to me how it can be done. if the modding is similar to morrowind id assume the geck has random leveled list monsters and you can just add them to those lists and put the spawns in.. but on a side note, i want to make sure that if this third faction spawns, they attack the player if your reputation with them is low, and not if its high.. and they will attack both legion and ncr no matter what... thanks for any answers
  15. I am currently in the process of building my new computer so i havent got my hands on Fallout New Vegas mods yet, but from what ive heard the Faction system is broke correct? Or is it possible to script certain things to happen based on rank? see what im doing is i want my faction (im making a faction, an intricate, very indepth, awesome faction..) to respond to the player based on his rank. For example, Im a Sgt. and i want to make a Private follow me or do something, but on the other hand, if the player is a private i dont want the higher ranked NPC to be able to follow and such.. so is this possible? id like rank and power to be the basis of my faction and if i can do simple scripting for it thatd be great. But if the faction options work for NV id be ecstatic, so do they? Id like to use Enclave commander as an example too, Being such and such a rank to be able to call in certain things and troops, and use those troops based on ranks. So visiting a base you could command low ranks and high ranks would ignore you.
