Slow quicksaves issue

Problem: quicksaves are not quick, as well as autosaves. They take like 30 seconds, and there are no symptoms of save bloat.

But, I've managed to pinpoint this problem down to this:

When I save game, it generates 3 files: save.ess, save.skse and save.ess.bak (only for 3 autosaves and quicksave).

I played around a bit and found out that the issue is caused by presence of .skse save file. If I delete it before new quicksave - it goes back to normal, split second save.

Any ideas how to fix it? Deleting it manually every time I save and disabling autosaves completely isn't an option. I could meddle with autohotkey, but it is a really half-assed solution which doesn't address autosaves, and offers little insight into "why" part of a problem. So far it seems that there is some issue when it comes to making new .skse save file and there is already one, as without older one it works just fine.

EDIT: also it seems to NOT affect autosaves that occur after going through doors/exits/entrances that cause loading screen. All other autosaves (bed, waiting, travel) are plagued by this issue too.

Been having this since I re-started playing Skyrim. Never seriously modded the game before and decided to have a field day this time. Got 232 mods with 184 active plug-ins and thought the slow save/load was down to that. I also don't mind the slow saves/loads, so I'm not really looking for a solution since I don't feel I have a problem.

Try playing FallOut 4. You can go to the loo and then put the kettle on, wait, and pour yerself a cuppa before the game has loaded :D

I found the problem. It lies inside of the skse installation data folder! If you installed the scripts pex AND the source folder inside the scripts folder, you are not suppose to. I had skimmed over the instructions cause I have used skse for a good many years but I over looked it. So the fix is to remove the skse files inside the "source folder" inside of the scripts folder you will stop having such a slow quick save, wait time and load time! I have verified the solution extensively now. I am 100% sure that it will fix your game if you have the same symptoms! And more than likely fix your CTDs too.

P.S. that source file is only for modders not users.

My SKSE folder (which is inside Skyrim's data folder) has only one sub-folder, called "Plugins"... so, my slow save/load isn't due to what you describe.

Impossible that you do not have a scripts folder. If you do not have one then you can not be using SKSE. You have 232 mods, you are 32 mods over the limit. Even if you bashed patch/tes5edit patch. you have too many to play a normal game without lag. Thats pretty obvious. Also the fix was in reference to the nomad person who created it.

When I say that there's only a plugins folder inside my SKSE folder, better believe me. Also, Mods don't have an amount limit. .espfiles do and that's set at 255, not 200...

Meanwhile I'm running 236 mods with 187 active plug-ins. SKSE is doing fine, too, thank-you-very-much...

You did not read a single word I wrote JimmyRJump. I said the "installation folder". The one you downloaded from the internet. You have the the skse_steamloader, skse_loader.exe, and skse_1_9_32.dll and 1 data folder. <---This folder.

Now go back and read what I wrote the first time.

If you have questions I would be willing to help anyone who can actually read, understand and respond intelligently. Just PM me..... Except you.
