Caerdic
I may have found the problem.... seems you cannot have steam and NMM installed on one drive and the game on another....weird.
mtylerb
I may have found the problem.... seems you cannot have steam and NMM installed on one drive and the game on another....weird.You can, but NMM has to run with Admin privileges. I have a very similar setup on my computer with my OS running on the M.2 SSD and my gaming harddrive on a Samsung 1TB SSD. Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention when I installed Steam and FO4 ended up installed on the OS SSD. I had NMM install on the gaming SSD and had to setup the special settings for it running on a separate drive along with granting Admin UCP privileges in the compatibility settings. I'm running Win 10 Pro, but I seem to remember Win 7 having a similar UCP setup, just a little less strict. EDIT: The Screwdriver/Wrench icon at the top-> Change Virtual Folders... "Enable Multi-HD install mode" then specify a folder in the newly opened text box for files that HAVE to be installed on the same installation drive as the game. The rest will be put in the folder above. Edited January 20, 2016 by mtylerb
SirTwist
If you set up ahead of time where you want to install your games, Steam has no problem with it. It is after you install, and want to move it, that it has problems.
kirkonacid
I can confirm that I have Fallout 4 on my SDD and NMM on my standard hard drive. Like the above user mentioned, enable NMM to run as an administrator. Without that option ticked, NMM symlinks don't work properly.

SirTwist
I hate to do this, but switching mod managers maybe the way to go. It'll take some work, I'm in the process of doing so, at the moment. I'm, right now, making sure the game at least starts up for me. I did have a set back doing it, but I am fairly confident where my fault was. I'm going to continue adding mods to things, and making sure I can at least get to the main menu. I'm picking and choosing which mods to go with ahead of time. I think my previous attempt was too much, too rushed, and not enough testing. I personally use Mod Organizer 2. It is still in the experimental stages, but it does keep your game's data folder clean and pristine.
