Deleting the ini will cause oblivion to simply create a new one. I don't know if OO has any effect there, but, if it does, having the game create a new one (which will require resetting your video options.....) should fix it.

I am unable to determine what other changes the install script makes....... as I don't have an app to open .iss files. If simply deleting the list of files doesn't work, (no small endeavor that....) a reinstall may be your only other option.

HeyYou : Did som thinking aboat all you did tell me, and came up with one more conclusion i should

try before reinstall Oblivion.

 

"Operation Optimization" is more or less a environment mod that messes around whith your meshes,

right..?,

So i did this : Uninstall "Operation Optimization"

 

Did reinstall all meshes and textures and menues for this

mods,and in the right order :

 

"Low-Low-Poly Grass for SI v1.5"

 

"Clearer Underwater"

 

"AliveWaters"

 

"ElsweyrAnequinaV3 Dec2010"

 

"Under the sign of the dragon - Tamriel heightmaps"

 

"Side_s_Sailing_Ships"

----------------------------------------------------

AND IT WORKT....!!!!!! :thumbsup: :biggrin:

 

So "Operation Optimization" did somthing to my meshes and

textures that the game did not like..!

 

"Operation Optimization" is NEVER..! coming back to my pc.

This is probably the point where someone (Hickory?) would normally point out that if you used Wrye Bash and BAIN installers you'd never have that problem, as you'd rebuild the mesh list and it would replace the ones that OO altered. I've done it to save him the trouble. However, learning HOW to use BAIN installers is a whole different subject - and so far I've failed to get my head around it. :(

 

ANY cosmetic mod MAY overwrite a mesh - when you remove it it will probably remove those meshes leaving nothing. That's the problem.

 

So, the rule is - BACKUP your data folder BEFORE installing stuff, then you can restore more easily if it doesn't work.

You can also run into that problem activating and deactivating OMODs (I don't use many OMODs, but switching body types using my HGEC Body with BBB v1dot11 OMOD will require some 'repair work' afterwards). Two votes for 'backing up your stuff' ... hard drive space is cheap. Edited by Striker879

Adding a second hard drive isn't that hard ... after you get the case open it's slide it in, maybe a couple of screw depending on the case, hook up two cables and reboot. Partition the new drive and format it (sort of gets your operating system and the new drive acquainted with one another) and then use it. If you go with the external hard drive for backup option it's just as easy (and there will be an instruction sheet to walk you through the process).
