I'm pretty sure everyone has experienced the glitches that comes with alt-tabbing FO4 by now, but I could have sworn I saw a mod on the Nexus that claimed to fix it not too long ago. Unfortunately I can't seem to find it, so has anyone seen it? Or were I just dreaming things/getting my games confused?

Doing this removed any alt-tab bugs for me dude =)

Yhea I know of the windowed mode option, which I have been using when I know I will be alt-tabbing a lot. But for various reasons (which I won't go into cause there's no need to turn this into a software discussion :) ) I'd prefer to avoid it as a permanent thing if at all possible.

Huh, I guess I avoided this by doing windowed borderless right from the start. Windowed borderless normally picks up a couple extra FPS in games on my rig (not a bad PC mind you) so I just do it automatically, looks the same, runs smoother, win win. :) Plus I evidently avoided these bugs lol

the alt-tab bugs have been with Bethesda games since at least Oblivion, I don't remember if Morrowind or Redguard had them. I never found any fix other than borderless windowed that worked for the previous games so I'd be surprised if there's any for this one

Darn, I could have sworn I had seen something, but it's quite possible I was getting my games mixed up, or just imagined it. Thanks guys. (But at least they built in the borderless option this time...)

What alt-tab bug btw?

I play in borderless windows mode. I alt-tab when I need to go somewhere else ... I don't notice any bug.

There are lots of bugs in Bethesda games when alt-tabbing. In Skyrim you would be greeted with a black screen when alt-tabbing back into the window a lot of the time. And when it finally decided to alt-tab back you would get the double cursor, the Windows cursor and the in game cursor at the same time, so nice. IN Fallout 4 I get the dreaded no weapon bug when alt-tabbing back. Upon a successful alt-tab back which without a bugfix I use would be about 1% of the time, I get greeted with an invisible non functional weapon. Usually a few minutes of switching weapons and switching from 3rd person to first and back will make it work some what for a while anyway. I'd say that and loading screens are about 50% of my 450+ hours in F4.

Anyway the best workaround I have found is to not alt-tab back or heaven forbid click on the taskbar icon which presents it's own mess, I use an Autohotkey script to switch back with #WinActivate. For some reason this prevents any bugs with alt-tabbing or clicking the icon in Bethesda games. I still often forget about the keybind since alt-tabbing is such a part of my muscle memory.

Sorry to run on but this mess is really unforgivable in a 2015 AAA game.

I am glad I do not deal with this problem. I have a few "non functional invisible weapon" a couple times (not sure if it is due to alt-tab). But I am somehow on the game all the time and not playing, like now. I have 2 monitors, that's why.

And I wholeheartedly agree that for such a game like Fallout 4, this kind of things should not happen, and very unforgivable. And thank you for telling me. Otherwise I would not have known.

Coulda sworn as well that I saw a mod purporting to fix these sorts of issues. Can't find it anymore, of course. Not a helpful post but at least if you're imagining / mixed up then you're not alone.

Edit: found the mod I was thinking of - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6382/? "Fallout 4 Window Helper". This only helps avoid an issue when already using Windowed Borderless mode, though.
