doodlum
I want to go on editing textures for the grass but I don't know what settings to have. Paint.net? Nvidia?intel? dxt3?dxt4? I need someone to tell me what the best is, and also MATERIALS!!!!!! not a clue they are so confusing.i also want grass to actually cast shadows? dunno how that would affect fps though
uedftus
grass is a single plane with alpha to see thru parts of the blades of grass... transparencyI've not worked with alpha maps much but I know you need (or has tons of good support) Photoshop and Nvidias DDS plugin. Very simple install and then you can open the DDS files and mess with them. As for finding them use the BAE extractor and extract em somewhere like a desktop folder (its a lot of data so have free space!). After that use the HTML texture finder (also on the nexus). That is SUPER helpful because all you do is type in what you're looking for and it will direct you to the archives (that you now extracted!) with the files inside I don't know about the shadows thing, sorry Good luck
lilkandeekid
I helped someone thru this last night in Fallout 4 Mod Talk XDThe basics can be found in that thread -http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3730370-texture-swapping-on-static-landscape-items/ As for editing the textures, where he replaced it with an already present one, you could convert that .dds (ending in _d if you just wanted to do the diffuse texture) and then use it in place.I use nvidia plugin to convert and photshop to edit my textures and such. As for format of saving, it depends on what you're doing. See http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3664245-editing-dds-question/for another thread about texture editing Edited January 27, 2016 by lilkandeekid
