Help Understanding How to Make a Saved Game

New to creating a saved game, and have some questions.

1. Does the Save Game I wish to use have all the FO4 mods I installed?

2. Almost same question: Is NMM included in the Save Game file?

3. If not, is there some way to include my mods, or would the person who is using my saved game be responsible for downloading and installing the mods they wish to use?

4. For my Save Game I want to use, I made it a .rar file. Is this the correct method before uploading the Save Game file to be downloaded via NMM?

5. Is there a way to "test" my Saved Game to determine if it actually works? I mean after uploading it?

Complete noob at this. Any help with my questions is very much appreciated.

1. Your save data won't have the mods you installed saved with it, but it will have the mod data. I.e. if you have a mod that adds new armor and someone loads that save with the same mod installed the save will still have the armor. Otherwise, if they load the save without the armor mod, they won't have the armor.

2. Nope, NMM is standalone.

3. They'd be responsible for downloading and installing the mods unless you get special permission from each mod author to bundle their mod with your save.

4. I'm 95% sure .rar works with NMM but I usually install my mods manually so I can't say for certain.

5. You could always put the save back into your save folder after packaging it and see if it works.

A save game will have the mods you installed in your game folder at the moment of creation.

NMM has nothing to do with save games. Saves are Fallout 4 files. NMM is a 3rd party program used to manage mods for various games, including F4.

If you send someone your save, they'd have to download AND install all the mods you used on your save for them to experience the same save as you do.

Save games should be downloaded manually and placed in the appropriate folder. As far as I know, NMM doesn't offer a save install feature.

Same way as everyone - download it, place in your Save folder, run game, load save. If all you had is there, then it works.

To chip into what have already said ... or to make it clearer

- Save game itself does NOT include any mod automatically. It does save data like Player is wearing Jacket ABC. But whoever is running this save does not have Jacket ABC mod installed, then very likely the player will be naked, or have invisible body (but most of the time just naked).

- You do have an option to include a mod within the save game zip file to upload onto Nexus, BUT 99% of the authors out there will not be happy. Best way is include links to the mods you want your downloader to download, and at the download section, you have option to show requirement. Basically tell people "my mod won't work probably unless you also download this other mod ...."

NMM works with a great number of zip formats. But I suggest 7zip since it is what NMM is using to pack your existing mods (behind the scene). To clarify, Fallout 4 does not know the existence of NMM. NMM is a software that intelligently automates a lot of work for you so that you can manage your mods in a much less (MUCH MUCH LESS) tedious manner, especially you have about 100+ mods. But it is still a software, not a magic wand.
