CTD/Crash Issues

Hey guys, I'm extremely new to the modding community despite playing Skyrim for several years. I just recently got it on Steam and decided to try my hand at modding. So, recently I've kinda narrowed down my mods to what I feel I need to make my playthrough enjoyable, but every so often it'll CTD/Crash. I've noticed it crashes usually in the middle of a dragon fight, or if I'm duel casting a spell in town. I also receive the infinite load glitch, but I've only experienced it while going to the Drunken Huntsmen in Whiterun.

My system specs are:

Intel i7 CPU 3.60 GHz (8 CPUs)

Windows 10 64 bit

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

16 gb of RAM

You need the Unofficial High Resolution Patch. I would put it after HighResTexturePack03.esp in the load order.

That may help your ctd, but also enable your papyrus log.

Just a hunch that SkyUI needs to go up higher in your load order as several mods depend on it, after UHRP would be good.

Get Memory Blocks Log to check if you need to change skse settings.

Get LOOT to check your mods load order and health.

After installing UHRP, I didn't experience any form of CTD or freeze in loading screens. I also put Sky UI up higher like you said, and to be safe I enabled papyrus logs and Memory Blocks log. If something else happens I'll be sure to post it!

Ah well, scratch that. As soon as I got to Whiterun, where you need to tell the Jarl about the dragon attacks, I got a CTD. I also still receive the infinite load screen glitch, but more specifically when a dragon engulfs me in flames.

Hmm, first of all. Did you use the mod sort in mod organizer? Secondly I would disable for sure papyrus logs. it is not a crash log and is more used by modders to check how their scripts take place within the game. Have you enabled memory patch from skse? I mean created the skse.ini file?

 

I would use enboost. The guide from STEP is pretty good. There is a mod called safety load. I would try using it if the previous problems persist.

I concede to Nyquist. Yes, papyrus logs capture lots of script activity and most of it is not helpful. You can read this if you wish to go to the far side of the geek planet, or post your log here in the Mod Troubleshooting forum to get an expert to decipher it for you.

Remember to turn off papyrus logs and memory blocks logs after you've captured enough information.

Well to tell you the truth papyrus logs can be very useful when using things like script scalpel and so on, if the ctd is due to infinitely looping scripts and you want to remove it from the savegame. But that is sometimes far beyond the abilities of even some veteran modders. And honestly it is hard for most users, me included, between innocent and bad script errors.
