No gun fallout

I know this sounds crazy, but being a TES fan, I don't think I'm alone here. I find the fact that all raiders seem to have guns, which I actually would find realistic if it wasn't because of the fact that they wouldn't be able to craft ammo at all on a nuclear appocalypse unless every raider settlement had a copper/lead/gunpowder factory underground. I understand that the bigger factions like the BOS have weapons, but i would like to make the guns much more rarer so a melee build makes sense, at least until half of the game when you actually start to fight the big commonwealth factions. The melee builds in this game really are ridiculous(the guy almost regenerates like wolverine), so maybe a balancing factor would be nice. Maybe making the enemies go for melee and as they just made a bow and arrow mod, make an improvised version of it and put some kind of ranger unit to the enemies, slow firing and something that you can actually see coming, but lethal if it hits you(100% limb cripple chance), and then the enemy boss having the weapon, and upping the weapon damage a lot, that way you would have some sort of boss battle in which you have to look for cover and save your shots

so reducing number of guns and ammo but drastically increasing the amount of damage they do. also adding in a bow and arrow would make sense, surprised they didnt recycle some of those things from skyrim. but since they dumped the ammo system its not that hard to imagine.

cannonically ammo production has been carried out by specialized groups that have gotten their hands of machinery to do so. the gun runners and BOS sure but some people have been able to carry it out on smaller scales with the main difficulty being fissile materials for batteries and gun powder for bullets. also due to the ongoing war and civil unrest the military had large stockpiles of arms and armor that could have been seized in the 200 years since the bombs fell.

i certainly think that raiders at least should have less bullets. it would also not be that hard to believe that certain settlements like diamond city and maybe bunker hill would be able to put together some black powder production at least.

less bullets from all sources, enemies, stores pickups.

dont believe it is a bad idea just that it would lead to a singular play style.

Kinda gotta agree with this, went hard(hardest i could) on first (and 2 followup) playthoughs, and i am currently sitting on over 3000 308 rounds (Which is my regular weapon, .50 being the other, of which I have more than 2k) and I'm NOT shy about firing off a few clips to make sure a SM overlord is dead.

I 'wanted' to be melee/unarmed(All my starting perks went directly into anything related) but I've used melee maybe ONCE during low levels.

I do wonder where all the ammo comes from(its a easily infinite source as long as you can hit up 3-4 shops every few days) which is highly unrealistic. (Should be a very limited amount that only by random chance, replenishes, to simulate someone out there finding a cache of ammo and selling it to the venders)

Same with grenades/explosives/fuel(Molotov cocktails) - These should also be limited to max 1 per 5 raiders (Even NOWADAYS a single grenade can be 'rare' when compared to how many handguns are laying around)

i was able to complete a playthrough with unarmed only and with charge it was still far to easy even on the hardest setting.
