Deleted4610270User
I can't find a fast .DDS file opening program. Photoshop and Paint.NET take too long to open. WTV works, but it crashes all the time. I heard that WTV crashes like that only on Windows 10. Is that true? is there a fix? I am sick and tired of having this issue. In addition to that, WTV doesn't open every .DDS file. Sometimes it just shows nothing (blank). Why is that? Are there any other fast tools I can try just for browsing through textures (not editing) ???
Deleted4610270User
I just tried DDS Viewer and it also crashes when I try to open up certain DDS files. I do not have any hardware and / or software problems on my PC. The game runs perfectly fine without crashes too. Only opening DDS files causes problems. Most of the problematic files are the 4K textures 20-21MB in size. What else can I try?
Deleted4610270User
Haha! GIMP 2.8 (the latest version) also will not open those files! WTH is wrong here? Those files work perfectly fine in the game. I don't have money to pay for Photoshop! Never ever shall I pay for a Bethesda game again...
vwmc
I've been using WTV on Windows 10 for a couple months without any issues, opening 4K textures as well. However a couple days ago it started behaving like you described. It's crashing very often on startup, while browsing prev/next is still fine. I wonder if something else I installed recently may have caused a conflict. I'd like to hear other suggestions too as I feel the same about heavier tools. steve40
Photoshop only takes 7 seconds to open on my PC (i7-5820K 3.3GHz). To quickly browse textures, I use a free windows shell extension called SageThumbs. It adds thumbnails to most dds files and can be used to quickly preview many image formats.
