I recently just got Fallout NewVegas. Are Fallout 3 mods compatible in Fallout NewVegas? I don't see the Nexus Forums seperating Fallout 3 Mods from New Vegas. Would appretiate to understand. :)

The majority of them aren't compatible. I don't really get what you mean with the Nexus forums not separating FO3 mods and New Vegas mods, since there are separate subforums; one for FO3 and one for New Vegas.

thanks, yea I dont mean the forums are not seperated, i mean , when you look through the available mods, is there a way that Fallout3 mods and New Vegas Mods are seperated in the lists?

Unsure of what you mean.

They are not in a location together. Each has it's own seperate independent mod download section. With a seperate top mods list, a separate mod index and a separate forum section. You even have to sign in separately at each one. FO3 and New Vegas are no more together than the Oblivion and Dragon Age sections are.

The mods are not only not compatible with the other game, each game has a separate GECK (construction set)

Most can be easily converted to be compatible with the other game using the proper GECK.

I tried this with a couple Fallout 3 Mods, without success.

If you want to try it, you CAN use FO3Edit to Remove the Fallout3.ESM reference from a FO3 Mod.

Move the Data File (.ESP) you're working with over to your Fallout: New Vegas > Data Folder.

Open the Data File with FNVEdit and change it's reference to FalloutNV.ESM.

If the Mod you're trying to convert from FO3 to a FNV Mod uses FallOut Script Extender (FOSE), it may not work with the New Vegas Script Extender (NVSE).

That's what I ran into when trying to convert a couple old Mods from one game to the other.

I've tried opening an FO3 mod in FNVedit and most of the time it shuts down when it looks at dependencies.

You can follow this guide for converting mods, but be aware that this is probably only going to be the first step in conversion. If a mod uses dependencies from Fallout 3 specific quests or characters, you're going to have to track it down in the GECK and switch it to something that's in FNV. Also, posting a FO3Nexus mod on FNVNexus without getting permissions can get you in hot water very fast, so step very carefully.

Im New to this site and had a question? I just Bought Fallout New Vegas for the XBOX 360, so is it possible to download the mods on this site and somehow transfer it to my xbox 360 fallout game ???

Console modding is not supported here. PC ONLY! Please do not request or give any advice of any kind - including links on this subject.

Here is a link to the official stance of the site

That is a negative. The modding community is for PC's only as I have understood it.

Methinks, in his zeal to search and find appropriate mods on the Intergoogleweb, perhaps Original Poster may be confusing the Nexus listings with those found on another popular (less organized) FO mod community site; which he had been perusing.
