Feedback please. If there is something that is not clear in my complete uninstall/reinstall please let me know. Also, any suggestions as to how I can make it better are appreciated. I do give recognition for improvements.

Before I will try out your guide, I would like to know where I should be installing Oblivion as this may be the answer. I have always been installing it into the program files (x86) folder but I've heard that that is not a good idea. Where should I install the game?

Somewhere outside program files, C:\Games\Oblivion works well.

Well, I tried to install the game in a few other places to see if the CTDing will stop but there is no change. FML.

What do I do now?

Sounds like a problem with the Oblivion ini. No matter where the game is installed, this is always in the same place. Try renaming it so the game will generate a fresh one on startup.

If vanilla won't run, it's probably this or bad registry entries.
