Soooooo I was all bored with FO3 and looking for just what is a "mod" all about (never used one)? So, this Nexus site (never heard of it) keeps showing up on google and I was all "wtf is THAT place about and why does it keep popping up allllllllll over google?". I came, I downloaded, I conquered. My FO3 now looks all shiny and new, for free, with very little hassle. Soooo ... to Nexus and all you moders out there ... T H A N K S!!! Seriously ... Edited by in10se

Welcome!. One more thing to note: Do not download dozens of mods at once, some of them will conflict and cause unwanted problems, and some mods will require certain programs to work to.

Somerandomsheepthathops may be a random hopping sheep but he gives good advice: dont just keep piling on MOAR MODZ or the game will eventualy stop working.

For the most part, you can avoid the incompatibility that would cause it to stop working by only downloading one mod related to a certain thing. The issues arise when you run two mods that are trying to mod the same thing and the game cant work out where one ends and the other begins and it gets all confused, at which point it crashes, usualy on startup. To avoid this, pick mods carefully and avoid running two similar replacers at once. Mods that add things generaly are incompatibility-proof, for example you can stuff in however many new gun mods you want-and should-it wont cause any issues, but trying to run two body replacers, or skin mods, or sky mods, will make the game blow up.

Clothing, armour, and gun mods can be poured in by the truckload and really probably should be. Variety is the spice of life so why not add MOAR VARIETY, just dont try and run two replacers if they efffect the same thing, ie body shape, skin, or textures.

And welcome to the Nexus, have a scary Ultramarine.

Thanks for the advice and warm welcome!! So far, MHO_overhaul is the only one I've had to disable from causing the game to not load.

Here's what I have at this point. Any suggestions on what else I should add, or replace? And .... QUESTS!! More quests would be what I'd love to find more of. If anyone knows which ones work and which ones ... work ... ehhhh not so well.

Add:

Guns, clothes, armour, you can do thjat without fearing anything.

Quests-again no real issues.

Replace:

Character body\face-easy to do, just make sure you disable(uncheck) the previous mod before you install a new one, if none is installed, then there's no worries at all.

The record that I know of for most simultaneous mods is 541, going to an Oblivion(Oblivion and Fallout are technologicaly closely related, the only main diference is the mesh skeletons and the dismemberment system) modder from the Nexus. How she did that I'll never know, but she sure did. When you get up around 200 .esps it supposedly gets to the point of a "house of cards" gotta keep a close eye on everything you add, even a slight jolt could knock it over.

Under 80 .esps though, it's a free for all, add anything that [iques your interest, but just try to avoid running multiple really really large overhaul mods, like Jorge Oscuro's overhauls with say... Martigens (or Fallout equivalent)

First off, welcome to the nexus!

Second, I noticed you have the Anchorage.esm above the Fallout 3.esm. Always make sure the Fallout 3.esm comes first, then the DLC's (such as Anchorage and Zeta) and after that any other .esm's and .esp's

Third, I guess I could help you with some really good quest mods.

You could definitely give the "A Quest for Heaven" episodes a try:

Ep1: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10208

Ep2: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12887

Ep3: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15488

Also, "A Note Easily Missed" by Puce Moose is definitely worth a try too:

Have fun!
