Dovhakiin
The horses to me where horrible in oblivion they only had one speed, and if your speed was high enough you could actually out run them the only time I actually wanted to ride one was to get over some steep hills but other then that I found them completely useless. you had to get off of your horse just to see who was chasing you because the camera doesn't turn all the way around and you couldn't attack while on the horseback you weren't even aloud to use a simple spell while on them.to me horse riding in red dead redemtion and horses period looked better felt better road better then the one's in oblivion but to be fair oblivion is four years older the red dead.hopefully bethesda does something about there horses in skyrim I'm pretty sure they did I remember when I found the unicorn in oblivion that was actually refreshing but lets hope to see something like this as a easter egg in skyrim. My link Beautiful isn't she, somethimes I just want to burn it down to the ground.
Deleted1572091User
I found the control and feel of Epona in Twilight Princess was pretty spot on. Graceful, natural turning, rather than the horse rotating on an invisible pole through its middle. Walk, trot, gallop... rather than the uniform and jerky movement of Oblivion's horses. The games were released in the same year even. I haven't played Red Dead (unfortunately) so I don't know how it compares, but making improvements on mount control ought to be pretty easy to do at this point over Oblivion. At least with horses. NAPALM13092
The way Rockstar did horses in Red Dead Redemption just blew me away by how natural it felt. If Bethesda brings back horse riding in Skyrim I hope they take a page from Rockstar and do it right because horses in Oblivion had the handling of a greyhound bus with all the speed and power of a golfcart. I disabled fast travel in my Oblivion and I would still rather walk everywhere than have to get on and off one of those clunky things every 2 secs. Damn wolf.....2 secs later, damn bandit.....2 secs later, damn boar...... Edited May 10, 2011 by NAPALM13092

My link Beautiful isn't she, somethimes I just want to burn it down to the ground. Yeah, they said they didn't like how the horses in Oblivion turned out. They compared it to RDR, saying something to the effect that they had great horses. They talked about the interview on this article... I can't find a link to the exact interview. Sorry. http://gamerant.com/elder-scrolls-skyrim-mounts-shapeshifting-dyce-64776/ So I think they'll do a much better job this time. As long as I have the ability to cast spells / attack from horseback, I'll be happy.
Vindekarr
Ohh, you're so unimaginative! Slow horsey? easy fix! Click yer horsey, bring up the ~ and use setav to give it speed 200. My horsey runs so freakin' fast I have to Walk him over hilltops, or else he goes flying and then splat. You may also want to mod his Acrobatics and agility unless you want a horsey shaped crater in the ground: horsies arent meant to run at 97 mp/h, even super-heroic turbohorsies like my gorgeous Dapples The Amazing, so invest in some defensive measures or you'll kill it on the first crest. It's not only the speed of the horse that bothers me it's also the running animation it looks so bland and restrictive like your rideinga box with legs I play on console so useing cheats is out of the question my computer can't run good games like oblivion I tried to run monster madness and it wouldn't play it . My computer is not meant for games and money is very tight for me so I can't just spend like 700 dollars an a good gaming pc .
billyro
Red dead redemption horses. I wish. Ever shot a horse in the back of the head while you're riding. I did by accident. Oh man, I didn't think that it would actually die! But, I don't think that TES will ever have horses THAT good. The games focus more on player vs enemies, not player + horse vs enemies. All it is is just time wasting.
