How would you guys do the subspecies in Skyrim?

I'm very excited to hear about the return of werewolves in Skyrim.

So if you could decide on how the system of being a vampire/werewolf would work, how would you make it? Any thoughts on Werepyres?

I would add the ability to level up your "werewolf" level, or "vampire" level. Such as, Level 1, you would get all of the basic skills of the creature. Level 2 you would get increased stats while in that form, so on. Sort of like how not drinking blood did for vampires in oblivion, but better. I didn't like the whole "starve yourself to get stronger" system.

Also it would be cool if werewolves would not get attacked by creatures, or even have the creatures come to their aid in battle, if they are near by. (sort of like that perk from Fallout)

What are your thoughts?

Werewolves should be added to a wolf faction, that way wolves won't attack you as much.

Both creatures should be added to their respective factions, really.

And yeah, vampires need to be done better, their general feel wasn't very likable to me.

It's in this podcast...

If you dont feel like listening to the whole interview, skip to 9:10 ..

He may have never really 'confirmed' werewolves, but he gave me the feel that if they didn't have them in the base game, that there would be an expansion for it. However, I think that they will most likely be in the base game, because they would fit in with Skyrim.

As a werewolf you will not be able to equipt chest armor and as a Vampire you will have a constant light spell at daylight and radiant story will make a random young lady fall in love with you :b

I would love being a werewolf (and maybe also for being a young vampire) to be a pure roleplay aspect, i know it wont happen as many people only want werewolfs because there are cool and powerful, but it would be awesome to have radiant story working on that, imagine you've got attacked by an extrange wolf or humanoid beast, and you go to a town for some rest at the local inn, after waking up you discover a cow has been found dismenbered, one folk at the inn talks about a beast he saw wandering arround the inn, in the next town someone y muerdered at night, guards start to get suspicius at you. Later you might discover you are actually a werewolf or not, and there is a real werewolf on your trail, isent that man always at the same places as you?... maybe both... hell that would be awesome.

As for vampires, i want them powerful and cunning, entering an ancient vampire lair should be nearly as dangerous as fighting a powerful dragon, becoming should be a curse, one that make a powerful being in the long run, the hunger of blood should be a dangerous thing. I liked the idea of being more powerful as you got driven by hunger that Oblivion has, it wasent too good in terms of gameplay, but the idea at it's core was way better than the "i drink blood to be more powerful", i actually would mix both... doing something as inhuman as driking someones blood to be able to regain yout humanity is a great roleplay experience, leeting yourself go would make you a poweful beast (with radiant messing up thing in the backstage) but having too less bloss could make you weaker and even kill you.

But well i think they should focus on only one of them for Skyrim.

I would set Vampires up exactly like the Vampiric Hunger/Vampiric Embrace mods for Morrowind. Those are some of my all time favorite mods for that game and they make playing as a vampire a LOT of fun. I have hundreds of hours in my character and almost forgot about the main quest completely.

Basically for those who have never played it:
As a vampire you can 'combat feed'. Using hand to hand, drop someone's fatigue almost to 0 and you will begin drinking their blood. At this point you can drink them dry or make them a slave.
Using persuasion, you can try to convince people to let you drink their blood. If successful, they will allow you to feed from them freely from that point forward. After a number of feedings and based on their willpower they will become your thrall and you can elect to turn them or keep them as a pet.
You have a blood level that must be maintained to keep your strength. A young vampire needs to feed often, an older one not so much.
Drinking blood from another vampire boosts your stats temporarily as you absorb their blood.
As time passes, you notice things like you've stopped breathing and can now stay underwater without drowning.

As for werewolves, I like Kaskas scenario. Other than that, being a werewolf in Bloodmoon was also fun. I wouldn't change much about it.

Razorpony
Edited by razorpony

As a Werewolf

-Howl at the moon as buff spell (maybe work this in with the Shout system)

-You don't use weapons as werewolf (it would look a bit odd), you use your claws

-be able to throw humans around (for a bit of humour add in a bunny rabbit throwing contest)

- weak against silver weapons

- normal Wolfs won't fight you but the Alphas will, if you defeat the Alpha, you gain control of the pack.

I think they will add vampires for sure, in the lore there is a faction of vampires in skyrim that can go through ice, and werewolves they said in the podcast that they were trying out things but wasn´t conclusive if they were going to be there but I have the feeling they will, with an atmosphere like skyrim werewolves are something needed, if both are added I´m hoping to see perks for each one, since there will be specific perks depending if you´r using blade or an axe maybe the same will apply like the moment you turn a vampire you will be able to choose a perk related to it.First thing I will do in skyrim is turn my character into a vampire right in the beggining XD

I agree with Razorpony. Vampires should have the ability like the mods in morrowind. Please make them like vampire embrace. Vampires should have the ability to turn others into vampires. They should also have a faction so vampires of the same faction will not be hostile to you. Vampires should also have the ability to make themselves look human so that others cannot tell they are a vampire like a mod for oblivion. Please make this for skyrim
