Request for the Oblivion \Data folder structure.

Recommended Posts

Title says it all. I need the \Data folder structure for Oblivion, so the Meshes and Textures I download can go to the right place. When I extract the files to my Data folder and try to add the meshes/textures to a new item, the mesh doesn't show up in the CS or in-game, and when I try to add the proper texture I get a message saying "Invalid Directory". Any help? Where should the files go?

I have this problem every time I try to get back into ES modding.

TL;DR = What directories should the Textures/Meshes go in to?

Most mods are packaged such that installation is a simply drag and drop procedure. Have a look in your data files folder, and see if you also have a data subfolder.... that's the most common mistake. (yep, guilty as charged. :D)

x:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\DistantLOD
                                           .Data\Fonts
                                           .Data\Menus
                                           .Data\Meshes
                                           .Data\Music
                                           .Data\Shaders
                                           .Data\Sound
                                           .Data\Textures
                                           .Data\Trees
                                           .Data\Video

I might be missing one or two, but you get the idea.

Also make sure you're using some from of Archive Invalidation or ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!
