  1. After doing my fair share of browsing through the file-base of the nexus, I was very surprised that there is only ONE mod actually providing decent-looking weapon enchantment effects, and that's only for weapons he has created. And of course, by modded enchantment effects, I don't mean an enhanced-resolution texture of the boring originals, I mean fire/ice enchants actually engulfing your weapon and foes with the respective elements, soul trap/fear enchants perhaps providing a ghostly or void-bound look, etc. Has anyone attempted or even know if it's possible for some decent particles on Skyrim weapons?
  2. People reinstalling CK and their game and their mods... Over a common error that is not even detrimental to the use of the program... I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
  3. I agree, actually. I generally aim for the head when I'm using a bow, just as a rule, but it would be nice to know that all of my vital shots are actually making a difference for the once.
  4. A simple solution would be to try turning your mods off, going through with the opening chopping block scene, then save and turn them back on.
  5. I've tried using various model/text replacements for various items in the game, such as armor and weapons, but they remain the same in-game. What am I doing wrong? I extracted the mesh and textures folders into my Skyrim/Data folder. Should be sufficient, correct? Kudos for a quick resolution, I want my re-textures glass armor! ;D
  6. Yeah. It's called changing the difficulty.
  7. All of the various nude and sex mods, should they be an integral part of the game from the beginning, would make Oblivion/Skyrim AO as well. They're not going to stop people from making a mod that allows you to kill children for fear of rating changes or news coverage. That's just moronic. The game isn't rated or judged based on how people mod it, no one is stupid enough to do that. Stop taking the whole of the world for fools, for they are not so, dear TNF thread. The only people who will be judged for a kill-able children mod are the modders themselves. Case closed.
  8. Must be a common bug with certain display adapters, or a game issue all itself, as I have this problem too. Should be fixed pretty soon.
  9. This isn't WoW. This isn't RIFT. This isn't an MMORPG of any sort, so please, don't treat it as such. There's a way past everything you've mentioned, and several of your "balance" qualms are trivial to say the least. 1.Magicka shouldn't be an issue at all, if you utilize a potion or two correctly, and put some points into your Restoration tree. Going on level 24 on Adept difficulty, I've yet to encounter problems with Magicka. 2. They're mostly place-holders, meant to hold you off from the juicier talent bits until later. If you're so confident that you can make the easy choice of doubling your damage output, then make it. Five points into one tree all at once isn't as good for your class as you might think. 3. No, they don't. My level 24 main character is full-mage. This isn't Oblivion. Restoration tree. Potions. Buy more spells. Profit. Low-level spells are far from magicka-deficient, provided you've put the proper points into the proper trees. There should be an amped-up version of them, however. 4. I don't steal in this game. It's a waste of time, and barely yields much to begin with. Why steal, when you can just kill all that inhabit the house and take the stuff for your own? 5. I had my first horse at level 5. They're far from costly, and the emphasis on fast-traveling should actually increase their cost, not make them cheaper. 6. I laughed. You have got to be joking. 7. The increased move-speed from that perk is merely a convenience that you are rewarded with for dedicating so many points to that tree, which you really deserve for doing so. Movement speed has little effect on your actual combat potency, so your argument is void here. Reduced speed is not a major downside. 8. No one invests fully into a single tree until they've gotten to a point where the important perks are out of the way. Firestorm costing too much magicka? Stop rushing for it so early. 9. Staves make things easy, yes, but they don't get used forever. Actual Conjuration is a huge magicka dump and is hardly cost-effective. Not overpowered by any means, unless staves are used. Then again, there's a reason we can only summon one at a time. ;) 10. I wish there was more. Above all, I think you're forgetting a few very important things; The game is still heavily influenced based on the gear you wear and use. If you have magicka problems, there's jewelry for that. Arrows killing you too fast? There's spells, and armor for that. Oh and, you know, utilizing your ability to SPRINT and use SHOUTS. ;) Also, if you find that your character is overpowered, try turning up the difficulty. That's what it's there for.
  10. I told myself I was going to make a full-mage character in celebration of Skyrim. Guess what? It WORKS! Level 7, and still going strong without being killed once or having to go back to an older save. Much better than the old days of Oblivion where the majority of my time on a mage character was spent running circles and chugging potions. Coupling dual-wield/overcharging spells with effective use of the hotkeys in your favorites menu works out to be one hell of a deadly player. The new perk trees are also amazing. You can really fine-tone your class. Props, Bethesda! My only qualm so far? There's never enough Magicka. Never enough!
  11. Not going to lie, they're mediocre at best. Better spell visuals was something I was looking forward to in the game that is succeeding Oblivion. Any Visual-Enhancing mods out there to make the epic spells in this game look a little more.. Epic?
  12. Title says it all. I'd like a script for a terminal to make it unlock a nearby safe or door when the appropriate password is put in. If this is possible, any tutorials or scripts would be appreciated. Will kudos, and thanks ahead of time. :D
  13. About a year back when I was avidly modding Oblivion, I found a gear leveling script on the internet that would add an upgraded set of the gear you're wearing to your inventory when you reached the proper level, or activated something, etc. Can anyone point me towards this? After many vain Google searches I couldn't find it. Does anyone know enough about scripting in Oblivion to write me one? Or just point me in the right direction?
  14. The answer to this is easy enough. Disable all of your mods and try loading the game without them. If it still crashes, it's an issue with the game itself or your PC.
  15. Title says it all. I need the \Data folder structure for Oblivion, so the Meshes and Textures I download can go to the right place. When I extract the files to my Data folder and try to add the meshes/textures to a new item, the mesh doesn't show up in the CS or in-game, and when I try to add the proper texture I get a message saying "Invalid Directory". Any help? Where should the files go? I have this problem every time I try to get back into ES modding. TL;DR = What directories should the Textures/Meshes go in to?
  16. EDIT: I'm sorry, is the file type .RAR or .ZIP? If it's .RAR you may need WinRAR or some other archiver to open it.
  17. Not too sure about the infinite arrows thing. When you say infinite, do you mean a whole lot? Or actually infinite? Have you checked how many they have in their inventory? For the arrows, you may want to open up your partner's inventory in CS and see if they have too many. As for the Guard AI, make sure the companion isn't based off of an actual guard, (i,e, and Imperial Watch, etc.). If it is, I'm pretty sure you can just go to the NPC in question in your CS, and change it's class from Guard, to something else. If that doesn't stop it, you may want to consider looking at it's Factions. If ImperialLegion and/or ImperialWatch are in it's factions, this might make it a guard. Hope this helps.
  18. Does it say this before or after you download it? When you download it, do you click Open or Save? If you're clicking save, where are you saving it to? Details, man, details!
  19. Lol. At first i was going to just say, "remove the mesh from your quiver/arrows and voila!". Then I remembered those huge yellow exclamation points that so piss me off -_-. I really have no idea how this is done, (a .NIF file with a blank mesh, maybe?).
  20. A battlemage, possibly wearing light armor, (chainmail, or mithril, if it's available). Will have a blade in one hand, spell in the other. Majoring in destruction, blade, light armor, athletics, marksman, alteration, and block.
  21. Dynamic snow.. shadows.. rain.. Jesus, my computer is going to lag enough already! xD. Sounds to me like all that crap piling up is going to take a lot of RAM.
  22. This is actually quite easy. Simply open up the NPC you want to wear the armor/gear in TES Construction Set, go to "Inventory", and drag whatever items you want them to have into the Inventory box. If you get rid of whatever armor/weapons they already have, and add yours, they will automatically equip/use it in-game.
  23. Lore says they should be. If they are, I certainly hope they have a bigger, more intimidating precense than they did in Oblivion. In Oblivion, I felt like I was working for some small band of rebels with little to no influence on anything or anyone but their victims.
  24. For weps/armor... Dragonbone Dragonskin Dragonscale Other various armors/weapons made out of various animals/lore in the game. Ice, (Maybe glass gear re-textured to have an icy cold appearance). REAL Enchanting, (I want PARTICLES and EFFECTS on my weapons/armor when I enchant it. Defenitely a must.)
