Clock Watchdog Timeout

Recommended Posts

Have been getting recurring bouts of the "Clock Watchdog Timeout" blue screen with FO4. Never got it with Skyrim (over350 mods and ultra) Only thing new is an upgrade to a single 980ti card. All drivers up to date. Have tried the web, no real help. Could it be overheating?? Getting up to 68 degrees c on heavy load.

Help?

Thanks

I will try to see what is overclocked. My video card is a 980ti "classified" edition so it is OC.

I am also getting a fairly full on my hard drive. 80%. but I have not read anywhere that this could be

a CW error problem.

Underclocking can trigger this issue as well. In my case, I was seeing this problem in Skyrim Special Edition as a result of the CPU adaptively underclocking its cores based on load (a practice called CPU Frequency Scaling). I was able to mostly resolve it by going into my bios and enabling "HPC Mode". HPC stands for High Performance Computing, and what HPC Mode does is it causes the system to use less aggressive frequency scaling.

I still get the issue on occasion though, but enabling HPC Mode makes the difference between being able to play Skyrim SE for days without trouble, versus blue-screening my computer after a minute or less.
