Germandeathkittiez
I have no clue when this was introduced, but I just found out about it recently. So, we really have to pitch in for adult content? I really don't understand the logic behind this. I thought the whole concept and beauty of this place was and is that everything here is user-content and regardless of the maturity of that content, just as free as Free Speech. That said, I think it's unfair I should have to pay to view people's adult artwork. It's not like I ever go into imageshare at all, but, what's next, will we have to pay for adult mods? I'm not trying to scare anyone with rumors when I say this; I just see a correlation in that adult mods are also adult artwork. I can't find much information about this on the site, and discovering it has just brought me to question it as a common user of the Nexus.
ub3rman123
Dark0ne has said mods will always be free and not charged for. As for the charge, it's a pittance. A dollar or two. It's more just to keep the trolls out than make any money. Edit: :ninja:
Eiries
Puny amount of money, proves you have a bank account, means you're probably over 18. Keeps the normal imageshare more work friendly. Supporter Imageshare isn't necessarily just adult content, but since more people view the normal imageshare, that's what it typically becomes. Germandeathkittiez
Okay, thanks for clearing that up for me. I'm ok with that, I just didn't really get the full purpose of it at first.
DarkeWolf
Yup, its a really small, one time fee. I mean, sometimes credit card companies charge more than that in processing fees. But it's basically just to prove an age verification. Tho, with the expenses of running the site, the extra dollar or two here and there does help out too. A lot of the reasoning behind the supporter imageshare is due to the fact that it's not something that just anybody can pull up. So there's no parents going "My kids are looking at toon porn on your site!" Or bosses going "Just what the heck are you looking at on the company computers???" That, and when it was instituted, there was a LOT of "adult" type material being posted in the imageshare on the site. A LOT. There were a lot of complaints being generated by the members about it. Rightfully so too, some of that was nothing but junk. It also cuts down on the amount of stuff that we staffers have to filter through on reports. Which leaves us more time to help deal with situations like spambots, making sure that bad files get removed asap, and basically more time for us to spend helping out the community. Not to mention puts us in better moods, not having to look thru those kinds of pics on a regular basis!
