Bugs and CTDs on Cheydinhal Conscience and Corruption quest

I'm encountering a bug on the Conscience and Corruption quest in Cheydinhal. See UESP Wiki, especially the list of bugs near the bottom and the setstage steps.

 

 

I steal the note from thingy's room and bring it back to Garrus, who tells me to meet him at the inn in 2 hours

 

 

Then the problems start: Garrus does not show up at the inn. I am aware there is sometimes a bug here, however this is supposed to be fixed by the UOP which I have installed (+ supplementals). In any case, I tried using the fix given on the wiki page (see above) which is to use the console command: "set MS10.GarrusBridge" to 0. This doesn't work (he is still not in the inn). However, when the in-game clock gets to 2hrs past the last time I spoke to Garrus, I get the quest update sound effect, then a CTD!

 

I also tried using the console to complete the quest, i.e.: "setstage MS10 100" (see the wiki) - this seems to work, and the quest is listed as completed in my journal. However, a little while later, I again get the quest update sound, and again get a CTD. :wallbash:

 

Any ideas? I'd really like to finish this quest, cos I'm just the kind of person who doesn't like leaving things unfinished!! (or problems unsolved...)

 

PS: when I use the console "sqt" command to get the quest ID, it returns "tnoMMO", which is not the ID given by the wiki, also this ID doesn't work when using the "setstage" command whereas the ID given by the wiki (MS10) does... Is this an indication of a problem?

Try waiting outside the inn for a bit, then go in, and see if he is there. (wait 3 hours. :D)

 

If that doesn't work, try waiting (actually hitting the T key, and wait two hours) inside the inn.

I'm encountering this error too. Doesn't appear like anyone has an answer for this, and no one has responded to this thread. I'd appreciate some fresh eyes to look at what the problem could be, if it's possible.

The release notes for the U O P show multiple fixes in over the past couple of years for scripts in that quest. Do you a recent version of the U O P?
