CTD after loading save

That's it, really. Game just CTDs a couple seconds after i load my save. the only thing i changed is an upgrade to CBBE, Honest Abe's Armor, and Caliente's vanilla outfit conversions to CBBE. since i CAN see the armor within the few seconds of the game not-crashing, i assume that loads okay.

tl;dr-->help my game is crashing and i don't know what's causing it. welp.

Update:

-yes i have tried re-enabling ALL the mods.

-the game now crashes immediately after it loads, so now i absolutely cannot see anything anymore

-the only other mod i installed aroudn the time fallout starts CTD-ing was an Idiot Savant mod and a perk mod. both have been reinstalled. game still crashes

Does it work with an older savegame?

In general it is a good idea to first disable one by one the mods added last before the CTD started happening. Also I've read somewhere about some perk mod causing CTD, but I can't remember which mod or where I read it.

As i said above, i did try to reverse install the mods that are either freshly installed or updated when the crashes started, and no improvements were observed. older saves did not fix the problem, so it's definetly not a corrupted save

You said, you tried to re-enable them. That's not disabling/reverting/uninstalling/removing them. You also should keep all the latest mods disabled as long as you're testing and until fixing the issue and then you could start adding them back in one by one.

Apart from that, crashes before or at the main menu mostly mean wrong load order or missing master files. So check the load order, see if NMM shows any plugin in orange/red in the Plugins tab and select it in case to see which file(s) it refers to as master. The master files have to be installed, enabled and above the referring file(s) in load order.

If you can't manage to figure it out, export the load order with the export button in NMM's Plugins tab and post it here in spoiler tags.

The crash happensafter loading a save, so it's definetly AFTER the main menu. Also, i've checked the plugin list and i don't see any reds/oranges in the list.

i haave disabled all the latest mods (except the CBBE upgrade. Caliente's group has sworn that CBBE is stable as long as you don't use the alpha Physics body, which i'm not using), and run fallout without the latest mods installed/upgraded (as of the crash). fallout still crashed

I DO suspect that one of my newer mods is causing the crash, but i'm not sure which one since nothing changed after disabling them. here's the list:

-Bodyslide

-CBBE Vanilla outfits by Caliente

-We Are The Minutemen

-RustyXXL's quick and dirty CBBE conversions

-perverted perks

-idiot savant to idiot s!@£

and yes, i'm a shadman fan

Ok, no obvious load order errors or known culprits. In that case try disabling all mods once and see if the issue still occurs. If so, try it on a new game, first without any mods enabled and if that works fine, again with your mods enabled.

If it happens even on a new game without any mods enabled, it's either an issue of some custom asset replacer (like a texture replacer for example) or it might be a case of corrupted game files. In that case I'd go the hard but clean way and remove everything non-vanilla from \Fallout 4\data (see below for how it should look afterwards) and then verify game cache in Steam. Then load the latest one of your saves again and see, if the issue still persists. If yes, try older saves until you find one that works without crashing or ultimately try it again on a new game. As soon as you find one that works, you can start adding in mods again one by one. Remember that you probably will have to edit the ini files for archive invalidation again.

Report back describing the behaviour on the individual cases tested, if you can't get it to work this way.

The \Fallout 4\data folder should look like this to be completely vanilla:

\Strings
\Video
Fallout4 - Animations.ba2
Fallout4 - Geometry.csg
Fallout4 - Interface.ba2
Fallout4 - Materials.ba2
Fallout4 - Meshes.ba2
Fallout4 - MeshesExtra.ba2
Fallout4 - Misc.ba2
Fallout4 - Nvflex.ba2
Fallout4 - Shaders.ba2
Fallout4 - Sounds.ba2
Fallout4 - Startup.ba2
Fallout4 - Textures1.ba2
Fallout4 - Textures2.ba2
Fallout4 - Textures3.ba2
Fallout4 - Textures4.ba2
Fallout4 - Textures5.ba2
Fallout4 - Textures6.ba2
Fallout4 - Textures7.ba2
Fallout4 - Textures8.ba2
Fallout4 - Textures9.ba2
Fallout4 - Voices.ba2
Fallout4.cdx
Fallout4.esm
and I'd delete everything in the \Strings folder as well since that might be modded content as well.

I've recently run into this issue as well.....I can load older saves fine and in fact, can play then for hours without an issue, but the moment I save them, they become "corrupted", in that they always crash with the newer saves. This affects even a new game started. I am about to attempt a mod by mod uninstall (cry), starting with newest mods installed and see if this solves the problem. Will report back with results.
