jaguarskx
I started playing FO:NV not too long ago. I noticed in a few instances where NPC are seemly making impossible shots that hits me. Basically is fall under the following two categories: Getting shot from the back - What I mean is that the NPC is running away from me (his/her back is facing me) then the NPC fires a Laser Rifle and hits me. I see the laser beam emerge from the NPC's back. Shot from the side - I see a NPC's profile in combat (left side / right side). Even though their weapon is not pointing anywhere near me the weapon hits me. I see the laser beam shooting out at an angle from Laser Pistol's / Rifle's barrel. I would love to do that too. evilneko
I don't think I've ever seen that. But I HAVE done it before! (due to a mod bug, of course) (also obviously FO3 not NV) (also it was really hard to aim)
Vindekarr
No, that's just them being lazy on animations-you see bugs like this in a LOT of games, notably the later Halos, mass effect and COD, the AI, if they had a screen, and you could see that screen, would be aiming at you noramly, but the animations arent complicated enough to show that. AI often have very simplistic animations-it's not an uncommon sight to see an AI aiming one way and shooting another, and to them, you look like they do. jaguarskx
Nah, doesn't sound like poor animation especially when a laser shot is coming directly out of someone's back.
drakeelvin
One area where I am sure this game cheats is when you aim at something. I observe that in close to 100% of cases a creature that's been sitting there doing nothing will move randomly the instant I put the crosshairs on it. To me the only thing thats not random about it is that they always move when the crosshairs come on them even if they've been sitting idle for 15 or 20 seconds before. It's like they're psychic. Maybe they are. However, I do not blame the Geckos or the Fiends because they are almost always in motion randomly, but I sometimes wonder if the Geckos have been eating Fiends and maybe all that motion is the result of too much Jet :D Edited May 22, 2011 by drakeelvin

I have done that just recently in 1.3 with a recharger rifle, but I didn't hit anything except the wasteland. Only time I ever recall seeing it. When wierd stuff like that happens I usually do a full save and reload the game, that often clears up a lot of junk.

Philosophiac
No, no, no... that's not the game cheating... that's just the game not taking the time to show you that the NPC you were fighting actually turned around, shot at you, and turned back all while moving in a retreating manner. It's usually caused by some sort of graphical hang-up, and a lot of the friends I know who play Fallout 3 and New Vegas have reported this same issue. Rest assured that the game is -not- cheating you. There. Now it -is- cheating in other ways. Fallout 3 and New Vegas NPC's -both- have insanely higher chances of hitting you than you do of hitting them. For one, they -always- aim directly at you, no matter how you move or where you go. This means that the only chance they have to -miss-... is entirely dependent upon the natural 'spread' of their weapon, combined with it's condition. That's right. You heard it here folks. If the NPC had a weapon with 0 spread... it would hit you 99% of the time, without fail. That is, unless it has been changed since the last time I checked, of course. Deleted1744345User
The only time I see this happen is with a sentry bot (a lot) or with a protectron. The NPC's do cheat, but with their aimbots like you see in CoD. I have my revenge by using codes to get all perks and stats way up. I think it's a fair trade.
