Question about OBMM and missing files

Hi everyone. This is my first post here.

 

I've recently revisited Oblivion for the summer and have become fascinated with mods. In fact I probably spend more time downloading and installing mods than I do playing.

 

Right now I've run into a wall. I was playing (successfully) with Cosmetic Compilation and Female Eye-Candy (Body Replacer). All was well until I decided to download and install HGEC and then Raven Elves.

 

Actually I played just fine with HGEC but I only mentioned it because it was part of the process of getting to Raven Elves. After I installed Raven Elves my previous savegame would not load. I found the reason for this in the forums--Oblivion does not support multiple custom race mods. (Note: Raven Elves did work and I was able to create a new character using the mod but the Mystic Elf from Cosmetic Compilation was gone.

 

No problem I said. I'll start a new game some day and use Raven Elves. So I used OBMM to uninstall Raven Elves and then tried to get CC back. I tried completely uninstalling it and the female body replacer but still no luck. For some reason it says files are missing.

 

Below are a list of mods I'm using as well as notes about whether they are ticked, and whether they are functioning as expected.

You need your bashed patch. Do a search on Wrye Bash. There are some good threads about it here, and on the official forums. There are some instructions on how to use it available for download both here, and also at TES Alliance.

I've downloaded Wrye Bash but i can't get it to start. Not sure what I'm doing wrong with it but the instructions on how to fix the non-start issue are not understandable.

 

I will take your suggestion though and revisit Wrye Bash.

 

Edit: I just download the Wrye Bash exe. and installed it. I still have the same problem with Wryebash launcher not working.

I have no idea what any of that means. I was just following the instructions in the Wrye Bash site.

OK. Now I'm really confused.

 

After clicking on Wrye Bash launcher a couple times and getting nothing I then clicked on Wrye Bash Debug and a command prompt window cam up for an instant and disappeared.

 

Just for yucks I tried to play the saved game and it worked.

 

 

What happened here?

You need Python 2.6 installed. Luckily, there is a simple solution that the author of Wrye Bash thought of and mad an installer. D/l "Wrye Python 03a", install it. THEN install "Wrye Bash 291 Installer version". That will solve the Wyre thing. Be sure to untick "Lock Times" in the right-click menu of the main panel when it first starts. I like to also "Sort by...." load order. Good Luck, I will check back.

I've found that file and installing now. Should I have uninstalled the previous version first?

 

Edit: Disregard that. It's working but now I have to figure out how to use it. bbl

 

I got the 03a version working and now you say I should install the 231 version?

 

And what do I do with it once I do that? What does Wrye Bash do?

 

 

Edit: I've downloaded the 231 version as you said. It immediately started Wrye Bash and all it's features although I'm not sure yet what those are actually.

 

One thing I noticed when loading a save game was that when I used a detect life spell the aura was red which is what the GW71 Detect Life mod is supposed to do. However, that lasted for only a second and then it turned into a bright pink cloud and I couldn't tell what it was.

 

So it seems like the mod is trying to work but then failed.

 

Also what is a wrye patch? I see that in the OBMM list and it is unticked as well in the Wrye Bash list. How do I create this fabled patch and what does it do?

 

I've looked at the Wrye Bash site for these answers but I'm not seeing them or on other sites as well. Mostly it's technical jargon which doesn't make much sense without context.

So I guess I haven't been using the Chocolate Elves, Sonnet, and Tabaxi races together for the last year. ;) HeyYou is correct: the problem isn't multiple custom race mods, but getting every mod you run to work together, and Wrye Mash is the best tool for that. Don't give up. :)

I'm not giving up but my frustration level is pretty high.

 

I did that bash build thing. I haven't noticed any real change in the game. I still get instability out in the field when I'm killing lots of wilderness creatures and moving around. I just save a lot.

 

As for the Raven Elves the OBMM shows it as red as well Roberts Body Replacer. Not sure I should mess with those lest I break the game again.

 

Still can't get the GW71 Life Detect to work right. I can see the red underneath the bright pink cloud but for some reason the cloud won't go away.

 

Any ideas?
