Can Some Fallout 4 Meshes be Replaced by Fallout 3/ NV Meshes?

It's a pretty widespread rule in general - a lot of companies do not allow content porting. Bethesda just happens to be one of them.

We also do not allow ported content here unless the uploader had permission from the copyright holder of the material you want to use, of if the company has stated publicly that they allow "free use" - The Stalker and witcher games series are two examples of companies allowing content use.

From our terms of service:

  • Absolutely no copyrighted work is to be used without permission of the original creator. This includes content from other games, from DLCs, music creators or from other file authors. This also includes members from countries that do not recognise copyright laws.
  • All files uploaded must have been created by the uploader or used with permission from the original author of the content. Such permission must be indicated in the Readme text attached to the file and/or on the Description page (or in the Description field for images), and must be obtained in advance, before uploading the file. If you cannot provide proof of consent then your file will be removed and your account is likely to be banned.
  • Always provide appropriate credit to authors who have given you permission to use their content in your files both within the file description and within your file readme, even if said content was published as free to use.

So no porting content from one of their games, to one of their other games. Got it...

Yes it's a bethesda rule and if you use ported assets in a mod on the nexus you will have the file removed or be banned for it. I don't want to sound like I'm trying to act like a Moderator but it's in the Rules.

You can only use assets from the game your modding or assets you have created yourself. there are some cases where porting is allowed but there rare and you need the original authors permission before uploading the mod. Beth will not give this so don't try to use vanilla assets from one Beth game in another.

Sorry

Good to know.

I was actually a bit surprised by it, because I've seen a lot of mods out there with (for instance) Sunset Sarsparilla posters/bottles/vending machines, or other items/posters/etc that appeared in FO3/NV.

I hadn't realized that was prohibited, and was about to add some posters to my vanilla FO4 poster mod, so I'm very glad I stumbled across this and asked.

The bottle is almost identical to undead bait bottles, I just want to use that shape and apply my own copyright-free dds and effects that are already in the game to simulate undead bait from Undead Nightmare.I just don't know why all fallouts have these bottles except fallout 4, everything is a wine bottle.

the original SS bottles in Mojave Imports used the FO4 Beer Bottle mesh and was retextured to look like a SS bottle. I know the new Update of that mod has all new bottles and textures. I don't know of the mods that have the posters your talking about.

Kind of ironic to not be able to import files from old bethesda games yet people can replace radio stations with music from other games or tv shows... Right........

that's how it is It suck but we can't do anything about it.

does this work for you at all?

it's fast and dirty and still needs collision work.

Thats good enough, I would just need the dds too so I can make it look like undead bait. I am still new to assigning dds with meshes in the fo4edit program, some items don't show me where I can enter the file paths. Especially molotov cocktails.

You can use this to create your own .bgsm files and attach them to your nifs with nifscope. Material Editor. I also suggested you look at my Mad bomber mod in the other thread it's still a good idea because I couldn't find some .bgsm and nifscope doesn't show them so I just made my own.

Here's the bottle, I haven't tested it in game but it should be fine it's based off of BottleWhiskey01Empty.nif.

Let me know how it works out.

New Whiskey bottle

Edit: And I can do a better job I did that really really fast. If you want the shape to match the FO3/NV bottle I could do it more exact. just let me know.
