GingerTom
In other peoples mods I've tried changing the sex of different NPCs in the Construction Set. I can do it just fine. Save the new face just fine etc etc. (I don't touch the special scripts etc.) For example there's this Count that I want to change into a Countess. I've overwirtten the same esp and/or I've made a new esp but the results are always the same: 'Joe's' name becomes 'Mary' but the sex of the npc doesn't change once I go back into the game. I know for a fact that I could do it in Morrowind without any problems--but can't manage it in Oblivion. What's the secret to getting this right? David Brasher
This may be a case of savegame memory. Your savegames store information about NPCs you have already met. Since you have already met them, you cannot change all their characteristics and have it show up in your current savegame. To get around this, you can back up to a savegame before you met the character (or to be more precise, before you entered a cell that caused the NPC to be loaded into memory.) You can also play-test with a different character that has never met the NPC. If it is a real simple NPC, you can disable it so it cannot be seen and create a female copy to add to the mod. But you would lose all the dialog, ownership, parenting, reference data, and so forth. So this approach would most likely not be appropriate for someone as important as a count/countess. GingerTom
@David Basher The sex-change was performed without complications. Perfect! Thank you.
ZenraNukenin
I have a similar problem. I tried to change some Marauders, but all it changed was their faces. Their bodies and voices remained male. This was even after I loaded a save from before my encounter with them. I even went through and shut down an Oblivion gate first, and THEN came to their location. Still men with women's heads. :(
Nephenee13
I believe if you wait for the reset period (3 days and a bit) they'll change to the new gender, I THINK.
LFact
However, if the NPC has his own dialogue, changing NPC sex won't affect it. You may still hear male voice, or may not hear voice at all. *shudders*
