Egm Help Needed

I get morphs when makeing a .tri, but for helmets/hats/piercings I dont think you would need a .tri file?

yeah you don't need the tri for helmet/hats. I just mentioned that as it is like the easiest way to tell if you are getting something with the conformulator. Bum that the BSa thingy didn't work. That would have been the easy part. I know for a fact I have managed to get working egms on helmets in F3. I have pictures to prove it. not sure what's up with NV. :/

Many people have gotten it to work in F3 it seems, but I can not find anyone who has gotten them to work in NV (new .egm not vanilla renamed .egm) I am really stumped...

I have also read about a bug with the update facegen function in the NV GECK... It is mentioned by TK, either in the sticky at the top of this forum, or somewhere on the Beth forums...following that link I posted would be a start I suppose. Just search the NV forums for TK's posts

After all that.. I am leaning toward it is down to that... I mean really there just isn't anything left is there..

Nope I know to do that as well, its set up correctly in the .esp just hitting update facegen does not do anything like it did in F03 you have to do it in FNVEdit... but It is done. :\

Grrrr!

Weird. they only thing I can think of is basic egm nonos. ie that you have used skinning to bind the jewelery to the head bone instead of using prn attachment. egms do not work on skinned meshes(circa Ob, mayb that has changed..?). Or have multiple mesh objects in the same nif, hair can do this as there is game code specifically to deal with the 2 different meshes,

otherwise, I am quite confused by that. TK has working custom hair. that could be different as it is not set up through the object list like headgear is. Has anyone actually gotten egms working on headgear?

Nope it has no skinning that I learned from Oblivion days, I have done tons of hats/wigs/hairs for oblivion and it is all one mesh (learned that from oblivion too).

Now I know hair works I got that working myself, its headgear that seems to be the issue.

Personally I can find no mods that have new meshes and new .egm files that work, not even my mods have true working .egm... I thought they did but they do not.

I sent a pm to TK so maybe I can figure this out, I hate being so stupid all the time. :\

Thanks for trying to help me Ghogiel

Hmm. Try this:

1. Make an empty .bsa with the name of your .esp or .esm.

2. Make .egms.

3. Success?

From my 2 minutes of testing, this should more or less work. Which reminds me that I should really get off my lazy butt and make .egms for my own mod, but that is for another time. Oh, and the odd stretching of the actual earring is due to my conformulator settings being probably off.

Are you sure your .egm is working because in the picture it looks like its not moving to conform to the head at all?

How does one make a blank bsa?

It's sort of working, I really only tested with this thing for like 2 minutes? The first picture is with the widest head slider setting. The second picture is with the thinnest. If I were to not use the method I described above, then the metal clasp wouldn't be on the ear as it is now. It's just the little dongle part that is separate isn't conforming properly. Also, to make a blank .bsa, use FOMM's BSA Creator and don't add any files. Hopefully you'll have better luck than I am with this.

Edit: Here is another image comparison of this sort of working and what occurs without it.

Well I tried it and they are not moving to fit the head at all like they should be... I am getting very frustrated, everyone keeps PMing me asking for my plugs and necklaces but I will not release any of them unless I can get the piercings to work.. ~_~ GRRR!

Are the .egm named the same as the .nif and in the same folder? Not actually in the .bsa because that should be entirely empty. Also, Archiveinvalidation is activated? Not really sure if it matters whether or not it is activated, but it might matter. I seem to be having trouble getting the secondary object to actually conform properly. Oh and... Hmm. Try posting up a picture of the Block List for me?
