Quetzlsacatanango
I noticed a while ago that the person who released the Roberts NV armors used a different (older) version than the Fallout3 Roberts body. I don't know why they did that, and the file page has comments disabled. The Fallout3 one is better, in the sense that it has a modified UV and texture that allows compatibility between Breeze and Roberts. The problem is that I use the newer FO3 one in my game (custom race for PC), and I am just about finished with an armor mod, in which I of course also used the newer one and have no intention of redoing it all (or any of it for that matter). Has anyone else come across this, and what have you done about it besides saying "tough"? Because that's probably what I'm going to do.Here is one of the armors in the mod, btw: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/imageshare/images/1316332-1305683112.jpg
Ghogiel
When you say better because of the modified UV, I have to disagree. If you do not mind that half of the texture space is left completely blank then it is better. they only did that to make the 2 sets of geometry compatible. When really you only need to make 1 mesh with 1 UV. You can make the roberts geometry conform to the exact spacial dimensions of the vanilla and breeze shapes.. with a press of a button. end result: you have a mesh that is shaped exactly like breezes, but it is made up of roberts edge flow and UV layout. you can account for any UV warping by using texture projection. well more or less. We aren't talking about making a 3rd arm grow from its side are we, the meshes are quite similar as they both have to fit the same rig. the only reason why they have 2 different bodies meshes is to have 2 different body shapes. and of course that can be achieved simply by changing the shape on a single mesh into any myriad of other shapes. Why you actually need 2 different meshes with different UVs at all.. when 1 mesh can do it all. All it takes is pressing a button and the computer will project the mesh shapes between. Better is relative. tbh I do not have any suggestions for you though. You want to use the the "better" roberts body with the UV in NV? I don't think that is a problem. You will just have to quickly ask breeze and Robert/ who ever was involved with the F3 thing, and make the NV conversion yourself. that is the best solution I have if you do not want to have to redo your stuff to make it compatible with the actual released NV Roberts version. not exactly going to put you out is it? like all the work is already done. practically all you have to do is upload it. Quetzlsacatanango
My actual concern is that someone using the Roberts NV conversion will find their armors incompatible with the newer Roberts version that they will need to use my armor, unless I actually do my own conversion of all NV armors to the newer Roberts, which I really am not interested in doing. I guess I will find out.
Quetzlsacatanango
A little further digging I believe has found me my solution. The Breeze conversion by sesom uses the "correct" textures, so I think my armor will work fine as long as users are using his mod.
nivea
I really do not like haveing my texture resolution cut in half, then I have to triple (at least) the size to get any decent skin quality... so I am glad for the restored UV map for Robert's body. But it does sacrifice compatibility with Breeze, but I can happly live with that since I know how to use blender. You can use FO3 bodies for FNV without any editing of paths so linking to either NV breeze or FO3 Robert will work too. :) I enjoy your male armors! :D
Quetzlsacatanango
Thanks :)That was the problem, I did use the Fo3 version, which uses the compatible texture. The NV Roberts mod does not.
