Deleted2753709User
UGH! That jailor sequence  I couldn't do it either at first and actually had my husband come over and call out the letters. How lame is that? (BTW, that didn't work.) Now I go looking for fights  What I did was put my fingers on ASD (this is before the fight) and mentally THINK where the letters are and physically touch each letter. Sit there for a minute and do this, then resume the game and I was winning  Maybe this will help you also. One other thing I didn't find out until later in Chapter 1. If you don't want to watch a cutscene you've seen a billion times because you lose or die, you can hit the left mouse key to skip it. Why doesn't anyone tell you this stuff? Maybe I should start a thread. Good call about the cutscenes! I figured it out purely by luck. I was randomly pressing keys and buttons to see if there was a way to get past that cutscene before the jailers and just happened to press the LMB. That little icon popped up and, I screamed, "Dear, God, yes! I want to skip!" (ha-ha). Would have been nice to know this from the get-go.

The only way I found this out is that I was PISSED that I had to watch that cutscene with Roche AGAIN for the 20th time (this was just before the first fistfight that I could'nt win) and just started clicking left, right, middle...UGH! Then I saw that little, tiny icon that said "skip". Oh my, was I a happy camper. Believe me that there are others (the Kayran) that you will be glad to have that "skip" button for ;D
naked blade
Yeah, I was sure happy to find that out, I did it by accident. It was getting to the point I knew the dialog by heart. Edited June 6, 2011 by naked blade
Deleted2753709User
Another follow-up: I was getting pissed at dying while fistfighting the guards in Act 1. Did a little leg work that I first thought was a load of crap. Various people were saying how easy it was by letting your peripheral vision catch the sequence and then tap the button that pops up. After much screaming, "BS!" at the computer, I gave it a shot. It worked suprisingly well. I later tested this against the other fist fighters at the inn and didn't have a problem at all. Something else I miss from W1: hitting the ALT key to locate things. At this point, I just run into things until the Search icon pops up.

To locate lootables and places of power press the Z key...lootables and PoP get highlighted with a red glow...not as good as the alt tab in TW1 but something is better than nothing . I`ve also noticed that in some cases of this a box or sack will glow but in fact it`s not lootable . I`m thinking the devs originally intended for this item to contain some loot and changed their minds .
robert01
I found the Kayran's QTE easy. In all honesty I died the first time because of the narrow time frame you have to hit space. I just neglected to pay attention to the bridge the crumbles. HA! The objects are programmed to glow, even if you aren't on the quest or in the phase of the quest yet. Edited June 10, 2011 by robert01
Donathor
I know the feeling. I've purchased this game a week ago and really looked forward playing it. But so far I've spent more time reading manuals, guides and websites than actually playing and I'm still not able to finish even the prologue. I really love the graphics and the story, but I hate certain elements in this game that spoil it for me. - the keyboard is impossible to use in a fight (for me), but playing with a gamepad makes it virtually impossible to do anything with your inventory (no mouse cursor).- and why inventory and skills and such anyway? It makes no sense and there's no clue how to use any of it.- the camera moves so erratic that I can't play it for longer than an hour or I get a splitting headache.- the movement of most characters is annoying and unnatural, it spoils the beautiful textures they have. Especially Triss - women don't move like that.- why is almost every house the same? And why do I find 50 orens on a table in a searched house, while other places looking interesting have nothing at all? I know I'll get better when I keep playing and I really want to know how the story will unfold, so I'll keep trying. But there are moments when I really switch off the game in frustration and disappointment.
LenSquig
I have to say that when I first played TW2 I was completely frustrated with the controls, trying to figure out the skill system and so on. The only thing that kept me from giving up was the beautiful graphics and a lot of advice from many other players that went through the same thing. There is no shame in saving/reloading dozens of times to master a combat sequence. Believe me, if a half blind, spastic old lady like me can do it, you can. I use keyboard/mouse, I feel that it gives me a lot more fine control and faster combat response than gamepad. Reduce mouse sensitivity if the camera movement seems too erratic. Default setting is way too high.
Donathor
Ugh... finally made it through the prologue, but there is no save possibility? Trying to do the fistfight, fail myserably at it (no key-suggestions like I expected) and each time I fail I have to watch the endless final bit of the interrogation again? No way. f*** this.... What a waste. Either they skipped play testing this thing or they meant it to be as frustrating as hell.
swordsman5
You can always make a save by hitting Esc and then there is an option to save.
