The pledge of allegiance

Basically..I think that is so, well not really, still disagree with them but still support and remain loyal to the thing as a whole I suppose. The primary definition of "country" is "a nation with it's own government, occupying a territory."

So unless you are talking about the trees and land itself... or just describing rural areas.. but really can you even be patriotic to those?

You could say, patriotism is "having or expressing love, loyalty, or enthusiasm and vigorous support for one's nation, government and territory"

If you ask me it is a word that is ripe to be used to promote the status quo.

Precisely. And it makes for a good buzz-word to use when the government wants to do something it really shouldn't. Like The Patriot Act...... Sticking that word in there leaves the impression that if you are NOT for it, then you must by definition be UNpatriotic. Neat huh?

I do not support our government. Not in the least. They have made to many stupid decisions based on what will put the most money in their individual pockets RIGHT NOW. To hell with what is good for the nation, or even a majority of the people.

It wasn't forced in my age, though frowned upon if you did not abide. I thought the whole thing was a joke and being an attention prostitute I did everything with chainsaw sounds and alike to draw away from the one nation under god bit, being irreligious, I didn't abide. I respect and acknowledge those who died for me and my freedoms, but to some people no matter what you do, you owe them your soul. Since this chat is censored regarding religion, I'll just say this whole mantra is b.olivian s.urfside.
