I have a couple of ideas concerning weapons in Fallout 4.

My first initial reactions to Fallout 4 weapons were kinda underwhelming. Not their models and textures, but in variety. Not exactly the weapons themselves, but in the unique weapons. It's silly how you'd get a unique weapon from a quest and it's the same model as the normal weapon. Like the prototype up77, or the ashmaker, etc. It's just a legendary weapon you get. Which would be fine in it's own, but they do show great talent making these amazing guns models. Like the alien blaster or the junk jet. But hey, I have a solution to make all legendary in general weapons more interesting. You could make a unique mod for the legendary modification, for like replacing the receiver model (sense it doesn't change at all) to show "hey this laser rifle has infinite ammo capacity," Or show it's infused with plasma or something. It could be purely a re-texturing or have a new model, with bulbs or wires coming out of it. I'm not sure how you could implement it right now, but I'm sure someone could do it in the future when they release the Creation Kit.

Just an idea that I've been tossing around in my head for about a month. Also damn the institute rifle, it's too damn close to the screen.

Idk, if Beth did that because of memory limits thinking about PCs and the ancient obsolete surveillance consoles...I mean game consoles. What you suggest reminds me of MMOs structure with leveling up stuff, and the weapon morphs as you go and make it better. Maybe, they have a point, if you know about exponential growth: you have one weapon with 8 variations, then 2 weapons with 8, ..., n weapons with 8 variations or 8n assets to manage. So maybe they do, but there's probably a workaround where every weapon uses a silly pointer to use a material file swap or something like that and then they go back linear...

Man, my mathematics brain may still be off, idk... I've found "girls just want to have fun" a very useful approach to spend my meaningless life...so...

You are absolutely right though, if the fk'ing weapon is legendary, it should look like it's legendary! That should be an easy creation kit fix.

@MLeon You made me remember this Pomeranian that always made love to rugs, idk what was up with that little guy! He was having fun.

I'm sure it's due to rushing out the game. For what ever reason they felt they need to rush it, they had an opportunity to do it right. Like 5 years of opportunity. But they may of wanted to ship it so they can be done with it. And that's why the modding community picks up the pieces. And yeah it's just simple variations at least, it wouldn't be hard sense it's not making whole new model for the most part it'll just be editing that one part of the gun. (the receiver would be the easiest. or at least the part that would make the most sense)

@DrN0rd Hey, I just overcame the texture issues I had with SP to make tons of texture sets go back onto one texture set because of naming parts of guns...and I noticed this:

So I thought, ok, a little rushing on the 10MMPistol, no big deal, and it's part of the mesh that should have been deleted anyways, you really can't see it...

THEN I saw this nest of crap:

Then I thought, f u guys, I'm not fixing that, wtf!

@MLeon Thank god it wasn't my rugs, it was the owner's rugs. My rugs are still virgins, well if I believe what they tell me.

What in god's name? (I'm guessing that's the texture mesh of some kind) But if it's the texture holy Christ what a mess! Maybe it has something to do with the animations? Like it unfolds or something? That's the only logical reason I can think of that would make such a mess; to make a jumbled up folded up texture of some kind. Or it's an error I really don't know, but I don't blame you from backing off from that. I don't know really. And If I were you I'd check another weapon texture set, to see if they all have what ever the hell that is. Plus good work with figuring out how to get a hold of the texture. Good luck if you choose to go ahead and mess with it some more.

As a games design student and proficient 3D modeller, that makes me want to puke. Even if that section of the model is all supposed to be using that same section of the texture, that's a disgusting way to do it. And Bethesda is supposed to hire professionals?
