kinabalu
I recently installed the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, and I noticed it has text mistakes! What I mean by this? Well, for example: when picking my sign, it tells me what the Warrior will give me +20 strength. Now, once I picked it, I got 2 buffs - one that raised my strength by 20, as expected, BUT I also got a buff which boosted my endurance, even though nothing of this was mentioned in the description of the sign. Another example - when I want to buy the shack in the IC harbor disctrict, I get told that it costs 2500. But I KNOW it only costs 2000. Problem is, I can not buy it unless I have 2500. So I collect 2500 gold, BUT when I buy it, only 2000 gold is subtracted from my inventory. Is there any mod/patch that fixes these problems, as they are seriously annoying!? MichikoUnknownFox
Hmm... You might be running a mod that edits birthsigns, because by default the Warrior Birthsign gives +10 to Strength and Endurance and UOP doesn't change that. You might be loading UOP after the birthsign mod. I'll investigate right now whether UOP changes the IC shack price or not. BRB with updates. - update: I just checked my own game and the price on my game is 4,000 for the shack lol. I did some more research and it seems that it's actually affected by the game's built-in economic system. The 2,000 is the "base price", but you may end up paying more depending on some factors. The warrior sign DOES give me strength and endurance, it just does not say that in the description when I mouse over it. Same applies for the shack: the actual amount of gold subtracted from my inventory after purchase is 2000, the normal price, but when I ask to buy it, I am told that it costs 2500. wetblanket
I don't know about the shack but UOP doesn't alter the birthsigns. As UNKNOWNYMOUS suggested, you should look elsewhere for the culprit eg. load up everything in TES4edit, look at the birthsigns in oblivion.esm and see what is overwriting/conflicting. MichikoUnknownFox
Yeah. I didn't misunderstand you. What I was saying is that UOP doesn't change birthsigns. I have UOP too and it says exactly what it does (and does exactly what it says). You need to debug test your claim about the price of the shack. UOP doesn't touch the price (or even the text of that) either. Remove all gold from your inventory (player.removeitem f <however much you have>) but leave 2,000 gold, or give yourself 2,000 gold after removing everything if you don't want to do the math. If it says that it costs 2,000 but they ask you for more (or some edit actually asks for more gold than that), you can easily find it. Bottom line though is that UOP does not touch the price or the text for the buying of the house. You have another problem.
