hidden/deleted mods

I recently downloaded a mod and have it installed in my game.
in checking the recent files of the Nexus I saw that the file had been updated since I downloaded it so I clicked on the link to the mod and it had been hidden, and now can't be found in the database.

since it is forbidden to contact moderators or the uploader about files that have been hidden or deleted, and there is no information about the reason why files have been removed in this way, it is difficult to know whether the file could potentially cause crashes or compatibility issues with other mods or whether it was in breach of the Nexus TOS.

would it be possible for there to be some form messages that could let users know if they should disable the mod or whether it is safe to continue using?

99% of mod removals by staff are for stolen assets/copyright infringement.

We very very very rarely remove mods unless ts obviously harmful like a virus

I was wondering more about mods hidden by the author

when the mod is hidden the whole page is hidden.

I was wondering if it would be possible for mod authors to have options when they hide files so that they could say if they hid it because it caused conflicts or crashes.

no need for any changes when files are removed by moderators :)

Mod authors already can specify a message to show when they hide a mod. It also tells you that it was the author who hid it, rather than a moderator putting the file under review. It sounds like what you encountered was a file under review if it eventually turned into a deleted entry. For obvious reasons, a deleted entry can't tell you why it was deleted.
