Need a good build for OOO

The answer is the same whether you use OOO or not. "Best build" means even less in a modded Oblivion game. It all depends on what other mods you have. If you have MOBS for example, or even Deadly Reflex, both your strategy and the "build" you may want to use will change significantly.

It also depends on your play style, which, to me, is far more important than builds. Are you a sneaky guy? Do you tend to use magic a lot? Do you charge into a room brandishing your two-handed hammer? Do you use companions or summons?

The best general advice is to specialize in stats and skills that complement your play style. For example, if you're a pure warrior, it might be a bad idea to add too many skill and stat points into magic stats. You can add just a little bit for utility spells (light, night eye, maybe a touch paralysis spell if you can get one). But overall you'll kill faster if you have high Strength and Blade or Blunt, depending on what you use.

That being said, if you're a soft and squishy mage or archer type, you may want to avoid direct combat as much as possible. If you use companions or summons, try to let them do most of the frontline fighting for you. You'll want to invest a little in Athletics and Acrobatics for defense (run away if an opponent turns to attack you). If you can't equip armors (being a pure mage), the best strategy is to avoid getting hit altogether, hence dodge and run. Have a few defensive spells handy too, such as chameleon/invisibility or paralysis to escape, with, then some healing if you really need it. You should also get mods to help you out with those, such as Attack and Hide, if you want to... attack and hide. And are too squishy to fight a roomful of monsters.

In the end, of course, it all boils down to you and your decisions. You can do something completely weird and still make it even with OOO and a lot of difficulty mods. I used to play with an Argonian boxer. Combat was long and slow, but knocking people down regularly because of fatigue damage made it kinda unfair on my opponents, as long as I can fight them one on one, or two on one at most, I did very well. I also avoided most direct combat by sneaking around and luring opponents into a situation where they have to fight me pretty much alone (with mod help). See where I'm going with it?

I'm going to pop in a question here... I am going to try out Francesco's for the first time but I'm not sure if I should play it with MOBS or not... So far the only real gripe I have with the vanilla combat is that Marksman is so weak... how big a difference will it make? Also, since I prefer playing stealthy chars (always sneaking in dungeons etc), would MOBS be something for me? You see I have bad experience with a similar mod for Morrowind that was supposed to balance the weapon stats but ended up making certain weapon types overpowered instead. :) Also, where can I find the latest version of OOO? The Nexus search results where... confusing, to say the least. :P

MOBS is generally a good idea regardless of your build really. It just makes the weapons and damage make more sense, but it doesn't really up the damage output per se.

You could try Phitt's Phighting Phixes for a damage mod that really works. It doesn't affect NPC vs NPC battles, which is only important if you use companions, but for the most part they're mainly just tanks to keep the other enemies busy while you fight your one or two guys.

If you're gonna run Frans with OOO (latest version links inside), you should use FCOM. Unfortunately, FCOM is kinda difficult to install. Otherwise you're probably going to get problems with Frans + OOO being together, because they modify too many of the same things.

Nah, I've had a look at FCOM before and the installation gave me the spooks. ;) Something I may try in the future, but for now I will settle with using just Frans. Always hard to tell if you may like something or not without actually trying it hehe - I think I will give MOBS a try, afaik it should be possible to switch back to vanilla combat if it's not to my tastes. Anyways, thanks for the reply. :)

MOBS isn't really that big of a change. You might not even notice it at first. The biggest improvement from it is really the weight and speed and reach balancing. You won't even feel the damage so much (at least, I didn't). The speed and reach are immediately obvious. You won't get phantom hits anymore (where somehow you're "hitting" without the sword actually touching).

But anyway yeah go try it out and see if you like it.
