Clothes Not Showing Up - Bare Bodies

It's a pair of tights with underwear underneath.

Thanks to some help, I managed to get the item out of Blender into NifSkope. So far, so good. I import it into the game, and....the underwear show up, but no tights!

I'd know (at least I'm pretty sure) that it would be an Invisible Woman problem if I didn't do the skeleton right in NifSkope, but the legs are there...they even change a little, like the legs and underwear carried over, but my (custom made first-time mod) tights mesh didn't. I made sure that all the necessary .dds files were in the right places, that NifSkope pointed to them, and that they were where they were supposed to be.

I even read somewhere that it might be a normal map problem, so I made normal maps for all my textures...I almost messed the whole thing up (!), and of course, that didn't make my texture show up either.

If there's already a gazillion threads about this, I apologize. I didn't know where to start.

Does anyone have any advice or links that might help? :)

Make sure the item you are covering is "covered", ie Lower Body, and Foot. I know how to do this in TES4Edit, but not in the CS. When looking in nifskope, be sure that for "legs" you have just one mesh piece and not one underlying it.

Hey Moto...:)

Can you explain what you mean? Like...the way I interpreted that (sort of) was taking the Legs nitristrips data, the Panties, etc, and merging them all into one mesh so nothing gets covered up on accident, but I'm guessing that's not what you meant...but reading that again with fresh eyes, are you saying do I literally have two legs meshes there? As far as I can tell on the list, there's only one of each...if it would be helpful, I can post a screenshot of my NifSkope tree...:)

As for your TES4Edit/CS suggestion, I think I did cover them, but I'll go back and double check...

Edit: I got it! Just like you said, it was a NifSkope problem. Thank you so much...again!

Edit a day or so later: Here's what it's doing now...can someone tell me what's wrong with this picture?

Well, here's the mesh by itself...and for whatever reason, you can't see it after I put the black texture on it. But it's probably the list you want to see, so here's this... (btw, I did get rid of the Sceneroot.02...I just keep forgetting to save it in that file because I never use that one...just look over that...:) )

And here's all of it together:

Thank you for taking time out of your day to look at this. I had absolutely no idea how to work with it....^^;;

This is what Im getting from your screenies: either your mesh fits too closely to the skin, which causes part of it to slip through the skin when animations occur, or, some of the faces of your mesh are flipped. This happens occasionally and, if you have blender, its a relatively easy thing to flip the faces or delete around the vertices in question then use the f key to create a new face. The weird squares could be a normal map problem or a texture oddity, cant really say without the mesh on hand though. Try making half of the texture/mesh perfect and use the mirror modifier to double both your mesh and textures^^. Hope this helps!

Natter: Wow...thank you for the suggestions...:) This should definitely keep me busy for a while, but I'll definitely give it a shot (once I've gotten some sleep, urgh...)

Moto: Thank you...and thank you for taking a look. I hope walking away from this for a few days will somehow make Oblivion like me more....

No problem. I am working on some clothing mods myself and I really like it when I get community input. Just trying to do my part as well^^ Good luck!

Well, let me know if I can offer my small piddly expertise in any way, even if it's just something like insight...

I have one more question for anyone that might look at this thread, and I promise I'll let it drop. Is there a way - in NifSkope or Blender - to merge pieces of a mesh...i.e. legs and pants/tights/whatever? The idea is to make everything flow together, instead of the legwear just sitting there while the character's hips and legs move in and out of it. If not, I'm happy to make the mesh bigger to accomodate...I just thought it might be a *neater* way to do it, if it were possible.....
