Freezing when Enemies see me or when I kill an enemy.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

First I apologize if this is in the wrong place or if I missed a similar thread.

I installed oblivion and updated it to 1.2 patch.

I installed Shivering isles

I installed OOO

I installed Knights of the nine.

I started playing and after a bit, almost every time an enemy sees me I got a short 1-2 freeze and it goes on, then when I kill an enemy I also get a 1-2 second freeze.

Changing graphic settings have no effect.

I'm running windows 7 32bit ultimate

4 Gig Ram

nvidia gtx250

Amd Quad core cpu

What could be the problem.

Reinstalling has no effect.

This only occurs when the Oscuro's oblivion overhaul esm file is loaded into oblivion.

I'm not running any other mods.

I've tried compatability mode and running as admin.

It's also not virus/malware related.

For stuff like freeze-before-something, it's almost always a mod problem rather than anything to do with your hardware, graphics or Windows. OOO can be tricky to install especially if you have other mods.

First, you need to post your load order. That'll help us assess the situation.

Also, make sure you're running the latest Oblivion patch (1.2.416).

Hi Unknownymous,

Thank you for the reply.

I am running the latest version.

also I've been looking around tried out the advice here and it worked - http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/390032-game-freezes-help/

It's a terrible sacrifice to lose the music and I would rather find a solution to it.

I'm only running Oblivion, knights of the nine and Shivering isles + OOO 1.3

My load order is

oblivion esm (original oblivion)

living economy (ooo)

OOO esp. (full version)

dlc horse armor (knights of the nine)

dlcorrery (knights of the nine)

dlcthievesden (knights of the nine)

dlcmehrunesrazor (knights of the nine)

dlcspelltomes (knights of the nine)

knights (knights of the nine)

dlcshivering isles (knights of the nine)

Ah... Sound problems. :( Yeah. The only way to fix it if you really want the music is to get a new sound card.

But you're not really missing all that much. Though Jeremy Soule did a nice job of composing the music, Bethesda wasn't too ambitious with the music in general. They didn't even make themes for each city or region. It gets pretty generic after a while, and you'll either turn it all off so you can hear the ambiance better, or get new music packs.

I tried updating my sound drivers and no success.

Oblivion feels empty without the music and it's quite wierd.

Oblivion itself works fine, it's only the OOO add-on causing this behaviour.

theres little or no reference to this issue online, I guess it's not widespread.

How strange :wallbash:

Nah, it's been noted by quite a few people already, and featured as a common problem. You can also try

In place of music, you can try using some atmospheric sounds to help fill that empty sound void. Try Atmospheric Oblivion Updated (requires the original file here), and Ambient Town Sounds. I use them both together, and they really improve the atmosphere in the game.

I used to play every game without music before. I'd listen to the soundtrack like once, then turn it all off after a while. Mostly because I actually felt it was immersion-breaking. I mean, come on. IRL, you don't hear music suddenly playing when stuff happens lol.
