CD Projekt and The Witcher

The 1.5 patch is REQUIRED in order to play on Windows 7...otherwise it blows up saying it needs admin rights.

I am well into Chapter 1 and I can say that I'm not a fan of the combat system. To many times I am sitting their holding my weapon up high with my mouse button pressed down and holding....just waiting for him to attack only to find out I apparently missed the window of opportunity because of an advance animation, teleportation animation or some other oddity that prevents an attack at that split second. Other times I find myself actually getting to start the attack but released the button thinking I did not make the timing and then finding out I was "about" to attack and cancelled it out...thus back to doing nothing again until I can get the attack timing started again. :wallbash: I do see how they tried to make the system diverse with the signs and potions but I just couldn't get over the clunkiness of the click combat.

This may be an out-of-date comment, but...

You were talking about Witcher 1 here? And you were in Chapter 1?

The combat system is just "click", not "click and hold". That may be why you weren't hitting anything. :)

You click to hit, then click again when the visual/audio cue comes up to get a chained attack. (Flaming sword icon for Easy/Normal, flaming sword and audio cue for Hard). If you're too early or late, you may still get the hit, but not the chaining.

There are some special attacks that need "click and hold", but these are only at the higher levels, and I don't think you'd have had them in Chapter 1.
