StolenTerminal
I read all the time its about immersion, hmm OK yes it is. So why are there NO foot prints ?
Boombro
They are not really that needed, there is no snow and they need scripts. It down right useless.
Zetsumi_Nihilus
FO4's graphics are already pretty resource-intensive (And when I say that, I'm talking about on average, not for elite top-of-the-line gaming PC's. Some people might have cutting edge rigs, and great for them, but making a game that -only- works on the top 5% of gaming PC's is a terrible business strategy, and Bethesda RPG's are built to run on current-gen consoles as well.) Having to add decals constantly for every moving actor would eat up a fair amount of performance, assuming those decals are of the same standard as the rest of the textures.Besides, graphical touches like this are only one of many different elements that contribute to immersion. I always find, with games in particular, that the key element in immersion is not the technical capabilities of the game, but the player's ability to bridge gaps in suspension of disbelief like this using their imagination. In any game there's a level of abstraction involved, because let's face it, actually having to hammer each steel bar into shape and screw every piece of a weapon together realistically would make for a tedious and difficult to use crafting system.
