JimmyRJump
Should you be able to re-do that "Old Guns" mission, try it, but make sure you don't step on too many mines and that the robot doesn't explode too close to the entrance, otherwise, for some unfathomable reason, the radio man goes bonkers and refuses to operate the radio (when going into workshop mode, you'll see he's unassigned and you can't get him assigned to the transmitter again). I've read though that this bug got patched as of the 1.3 version of the game... Edited March 24, 2016 by JimmyRJump
maddelinebella
Again here I did not discover I had a problem till way later and had gone through so much In the game that I could not even think about going back. I did research but the fixes didn't apply or were past my knowledge, I haven't looked It up in months so I should try again, perhaps My understanding or console bravery has gone up. Back to Preston I went back before the problem played through ad It started up again, no sign of what causes it. Don't think it's my mods, I wasn't messing with them much then, everything seemed very stable.

JimmyRJump
Here's a fix I found which is applied through console: Open up console using ~ Select the radio transmitter (click on) (hex value should be 0009FF48[EP]) you can confirm its the right reference by selecting the radio transmitter, typing sv and confirming bAllowPlayerAssignment = False is a listed autoproperty in the Papyrus output (you may have to scroll up to find the autoproperty). with the radio transmitter selected type: setpapyrusvar bAllowPlayerAssignment True with the radio transmitter selected type: sv to confirm the variable has been changed (got to workshop mode) assign any random settler to the radio transmitter, this should force the minute man to sit down and start using it again with the settler you assigned to the transmitter selected, type: setpapyrusvar bWork24Hours True this should make the radio still work at night Hope this helps :)
pra
Regarding Nordhagen Beach again: I'm not getting any quest to get that one, either. My Radio Freedom transmitter works, though, I even got two unrelated settlement quests from it recently. Is there a way to explicitly provoke the quest for that specific settlement using console commands?

My Radio Freedom transmitter works, though, I even got two unrelated settlement quests from it recently. Is there a way to explicitly provoke the quest for that specific settlement using console commands? Not that I know of. Which doesn't mean there isn't one, mind. But, with the Minutemen Radio operational, you should get a message from Preston at one point or another to go check on the lot at Nordhagen, to then receive a quest from them that, when successful, will add the Nordhagen Beach settlement. Even with a mod installed that silences Preston about radiant attack quests... The quest usually consists of getting rid of the Ghouls at Croup Manor for settler friends of the Nordhagen bunch who want to move in, I believe. With regard to the latter, maybe the Nordhagen quest becomes stuck when having already cleared Croup Manor; or the other way round: when not getting the quest, clear Croup Manor and then go see the Nordhagen folks. If nothing works, well, then the bug is deeper than presumed. *EDIT* Another possibility that might work just sprang to mind: if willing to do so, try killing the folk at Nordhagen (which, come to think of it is impossible as there's a kid involved and those are unkillable; try the killall command in the console to see what happens, or in console, click the child and use the kill command). When there's no settlers attached to a settlement its WorkShop usually is accessible immediately. Edited September 15, 2016 by JimmyRJump
pra
I have croup manor already, and was at nordhagen afterwards, no success. Lol, could it work if I use the console to kill them, take over their workshop, and then resurrect them again? But, is there really no command to take ownership of a specific workshop? I mean, that status has to be saved somewhere, there should be a way to access it?

They hang around the place with just their generic dialogue when spoken to; no dialogue menu pops up. Haven't tried with settlers that own a place as they're usually non-killable... Getting a WorkShop to be accessible would involve the use of either the GECK or FO4Edit, I presume... damanding
I had issues with getting Somerville Place in my previous play through. Talking to the settlers and Preston, and listening to the radio I could never get the quest for that settlement to trigger. I shot the dad, the two kids ran away and I could unlock the workshop. So if you don't mind a bit of murder you can shoot the adults and the kids should run off so that you don't have to use console commands to kill the kids. To me it seems if I find a settlement before the quest lets me use it, then I never seem to get it.This location I always find early as Cate is an early follower I get, and her own quest is so close to there I use it as a fast travel point.
