cuulcars
I'm trying to install and use Wrye Bash. I have even gotten it to run. That is not the problem. However, after installing Wrye, Oblivion will no longer start up. I do not get a small black screen or anything. It simply just doesn't start. I can start Wrye bash fine. I have tried running Oblivion from wrye, I have tried starting it with OBSE. I have isolated the problem to Wrye Bash by reinstalling everything and successfully starting vanilla Oblivion. I then try to run Wrye Bash which starts up. But after the first time running it, Oblivion simply refuses to open. I am running Windows 7 64-bit. MotoSxorpio
Turn off UAC (not recommended for the average user) or re-install Oblivion and its mods to a location OTHER THAN "Program Files" or "Program Filesx86" (recommended).
Mortrix927
You can also reduce the security level of the UAC either with a utility or through regedit. Another thing you can do is run oblivion as an administrator, but that gets tedious after awhile.
cuulcars
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I have already tried that :( I have it installed in My Documents.
Fonger
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I have already tried that :( I have it installed in My Documents.let's see what have you not done 1 - given us your load order 2 - told us what you've done while you were in wrye bash 3 - created or deactivated the bashed patch 4 - checked where the oblivion launching program is pointing --- should be into your my documents folder 5 - confirmed what folder you have installed OBSE into. cuulcars
Mainly because most of those seemed irrelevant: I haven't even gotten that far. I started from a fresh install, no mods enabled. Completely vanilla. To answer 2, I tried even doing absolutely nothing. I open up Wrye, then close it. That's it. From that point on, Oblivion won't start unless I reinstall it. I have tried using and not using the bashed patch. The oblivion launcher is pointing right into the My Documents/Games/Oblivion folder. I have tried using the Oblivion_launcher.exe, directly starting oblivion.exe, and Obse_loader.exe. My Obse_loader.exe and associated .dlls are in the same folder as the Oblivion.exe (Documents/Games/Oblivion). I hope that with this information the problem is more clear. cuulcars
Here's a little more information: I have just isolated it to something in the Data folder. I backed up a copy of a vanilla Data folder of oblivion. I then tried to open Wrye Bash. Once it started up, I immediately exited out. As I expected, Oblivion would no longer run. Then, I deleted the data folder, and copied the backup to the appropriate folder. Oblivion would run again! However, I cannot do this every time Wrye Bash runs. It is somehow affecting some file that is essential to Oblivion's startup.
cuulcars
I never figured out what the problem was, but I figured out a solution: Downgrade my Wrye Bash verison :P Whatever. Thanks for all the help :)
Telyn
When you were installing Bash, did you see a radio button that says "testing" and check that? If so, that could be your problem.

If you are replace obse_loader.exe with obse steam loader and obse steam loader dll.
