LHammonds
I've only just started playing the 1st Witcher and am about to install the 2nd. It can be said that you left click a baddie and mostly do NOT lift the mouse button in order to continue attacking. You can lift the button and press it again extremely fast to make quick combos "IF" you can time it right by watching the mouse cursor briefly show a flaming sword (at least in the 1st game). You also have to control your stance. Use the "heavy" stance for slower but more powerful attacks when attacking a larger enemy, use the "swift" stance for fighting somebody that is smaller and more agile (attacks are faster but less powerful). Use a "group" stance for fighting multiple enemies at once so your attacks to one guy can actually hit other dudes standing to close to your swinging weapon. I probably did not use the correct terms but you get the gist of it. LHammonds
brokenergy
I know how you feel, the game is confusing for new players and the in-game tutorial doesn't help at all. Heck even TW had a better in-game tutorial than this.
cinco
it's called reading the manual.
brokenergy
it's called reading the manual. That's cheap, even if he had read the manual he is right and his view is valid. TW2 had a really poor in-game tutorial and RED needs to fix it in their next game. Not everyone learns the same way as you do.
swordsman5
If you want a difficult tutorial try Eragon on PC without a gamepad, a dozen different key-strokes sequences to use the special moves that you need to get through, but they only come on the screen once for a short time........I gave up on that one. Personally the only thing I find difficult with the Witcher 2 tutorial, is that the writing is too small, and in some cases the panel has faded before I get a chance to read it all. mondotomhead
If you need to see a tutorial again (I agree, it goes by to fast and its so SMALL) hit "J" to open the journal. Up on the left hand side there are pictures to click on and one of them are the Tutorials. The print is much larger and it won't disappear on you  Also, there are character pictures so you know who you are looking for in the quests. I found this very helpful. brokenergy
That's not the problem, the problem is that the tutorial felt really out of place with the game. It almost felt that you were contiuning from last save rather than starting from scrach. A great tutorial would be seemlessly intergrated into the game and help new users with the basics (like AC, Portal etc). It's also worth noting that you didn't even need to use all of your signs in the beginning and that was another failure of the system; it didn't give you the oppotunity to use all of the signs in combat and it would have been better if there were times where you needed to use other signs to take care of certain enemies. mondotomhead
Yeah, this game certainly doesn't "hold your hand" and lead you around. You have to figure out EVERYTHING, look everywhere, and talk to everybody. The guide is little more than a suggestion on how to do quests. After playing DAO for months, TW2 is like a huge, complicated puzzle. I love TW2 but it certainly makes you work for every single advancement or quest you earn. Things are not handed to you at all. I've had to get on the GOG forum three separate times because I could not find something, or fiqure out what I was supposed to do next. With this game I do feel I've acomplished something though.
