bakafool
^^ that's a flimsy reasoning. One that hardcore RPG-er likes to throw around when a game is a bit too difficult... Introducing a clear set of rules is neccesarry. Every game is somebody's first. Imagine inviting someone to play a game of poker, and when that someone ask what the rules are, you'll say; figure it out yourself!...i'm not gonna hold your hand! swordsman5
That's what you get when a group of RPG players create a game, probably the only thing I miss with W2 is the chance to return to previous areas, especially if you suddenly realise that there was a side quest you'd started and hadn't finished, for instance the action at the end of Act 1 carries you along and before you know it you are either dead and reloading a previous save or whisked off to act 2. jford76
Thank you for this post!! I am getting through the tuturial and am very frustrated with the difficulty of the game and glad to see I am not the only one. I JUST finisihed The Witcher 1 and found it pleasantly challenging but not to difficult (on medium.) I'll push my way through TW2 because TW1 is argaubly my favorite game of all time, hopefully TW2 pans out.
brokenergy
Yeah, this game certainly doesn't "hold your hand" and lead you around. You have to figure out EVERYTHING, look everywhere, and talk to everybody. The guide is little more than a suggestion on how to do quests. After playing DAO for months, TW2 is like a huge, complicated puzzle. I love TW2 but it certainly makes you work for every single advancement or quest you earn. Things are not handed to you at all. I've had to get on the GOG forum three separate times because I could not find something, or fiqure out what I was supposed to do next. With this game I do feel I've acomplished something though. That's silly, when you are developing a product, you are assuming that everyone from any demographic is buying it. A good product would try to appeal to their "hardcore" fanbase while expanding to new players. In this case RED just tapped into a niche group without expanding, they have failed to convay the rules of the game. I find it silly that people assume that in-game tutorials are bad for you, if you guys don't like it then ignore it, it's that simple. Don't assume that everyone is dumb or illiterate because they can't play the game well (this goes to everyone). A game should allow you a sense of accomplishment without driving you nuts. LHammonds
Did anyone else miss being able to use the ALT key to quickly see what items you can pick up? I used it all the time in #1 to find ingredients. I just happen to spot the same kinds of plants that yield ingredients because I recognized them from the 1st game. A bolt of something shoots out of the medallion and lights up everything important. Another hint: If you don't want to see a cutscene again or listen to previously heard conversations hit the right mouse button and you will either skip the scene or move quickly through the conversation. I was well into Chapter 1 before I figured that out  Edited June 16, 2011 by mondotomhead
