MichikoUnknownFox
So I got through the childhood scene at Vault 101 just fine, until the character gets to what should be 19 years old. I CTD after the scene blurs and just before they actually show the faces of the people who are talking to me telling me to wake up. My Load Order via BOSS (and a little manual readjustment for the last two so my Bashed Patch is dead last): Active Mod Files: 00 Fallout3.esm 01 Anchorage.esm 02 ThePitt.esm 03 BrokenSteel.esm 04 PointLookout.esm 05 Zeta.esm 06 Lings.esm 07 LingsDLC.esm 08 CRAFT.esm 09 CALIBR.esm [Version 1.4] 0A FO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File.esm 0B Mart's Mutant Mod.esm 0C PCIdles.esp 0D FO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File.esp 0E FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Anchorage.esp 0F FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC The Pitt.esp 10 FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Broken Steel.esp 11 FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Point Lookout.esp 12 FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Mothership Zeta.esp 13 FO3 Wanderers Edition - Alternate Travel.esp 14 FO3 Wanderers Edition - Followers Enhanced (BrokenSteel).esp ++ FO3 Wanderers Edition - Optional Restore Tracers (automatics only).esp 15 AsharasLightningItems.esp 16 SchoolUniforms.esp 17 Tattered_suits.esp 18 SwampfolkOutfit.esp 19 PEDress.esp 1A Mart's Mutant Mod.esp 1B Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Anchorage.esp 1C Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC The Pitt.esp 1D Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.esp ++ Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Point Lookout.esp 1E Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Zeta.esp ++ Mart's Mutant Mod - Master Menu Module.esp 1F Maschinengewehr42.esp 20 Bashed Patch, 0.esp Other info: Steam Fallout 3 GotY version Windows 7, but installed Steam to my D drive, so all my game files are there too. Latest FOSE I also have some mesh replacers, like Type3 body and some other things, but those are installed properly (BAIN installation; I hand checked each package myself). Archive Invalidation Invalidated is also active. Anyone got any ideas? :( -update: Tried reducing some of the other mods and rebuilt the patch. Still crashing. Updated Load Order to show what I got left. Edited June 13, 2011 by HosokawaTakuya

KDStudios
This is why you never do the "tutorial" (starting years) with mods activated, just no need for them until you leave the vault. So just disable them until you leave the vault. Simples :P Edited June 13, 2011 by KDStudios
MichikoUnknownFox
Absolutely no mods activated this time. Not even mesh replacers. Just pure vanilla + DLCs. I'm still crashing at the same place on a brand new game. D: It might not have anything to do with the mods now... Time to figure out what then. KDStudios
Esm's are still loaded regardless whether or not they are active in the launcher or fomm.So best to take out the esm's just to be sure.
MichikoUnknownFox
The ESMs of the DLCs you mean? Cuz that's all I have left. -edit: Just having Fallout3.esm loaded is still causing a crash at the same spot... I think it really has nothing to do with mods by now. -update:The crash is always at the cutscene-type thing that says, "Three years later", and only there so far. It's not ini settings, because I already tried a fresh ini and it's the same result. I'm trying other things now that people are saying on Google now, like ffdshow codecs and whatnot. KDStudios
Hmmm if it's just the fallout3.esm it can only be one of three things:Game save.Fallout.iniGame corruption. Have you tried making another save game?Have you considered borrowing a save game off the nexus to just before you leave the cave of vault 101, you can change everything you want then?Have you tried launching without fose? Also try changing the graphics settings to low and perhaps the lighting. In steam have you tried checking the integrity of game cache?Worst case scenario; Reinstallation. I'm throwing out anything and everything I know right now :PUsually any of the above methods mentioned in this post and before it fix any issue I've had in the past. Ps. I mean't the Esm's of the mods. In the list you had esm's from other mods. Like I said if they're in the data folder the game WILL load them regardless of anything. So I suggest moving them out of your data folder to prevent the game loading them. Edited June 13, 2011 by KDStudios
MichikoUnknownFox
I've tried playing with a completely new save. I also tried skipping the whole tutorial vault 101 thing via FWE if I'm not mistaken, just in case it's limited to that. I CTD right after I get control of my character in that case. I've tried launching without FOSE, and yeah it's still the same. Graphics settings don't seem to matter either. Steam reports my file integrity is okay. It did a quick download and install of some file. I dunno what but it was just one tiny file, probably a config file or something. But that didn't change anything. I used BAIN to install/uninstall my mods, so there were no traces left when I removed them. My Data folder looks like how it would if you have just straight up vanilla. I'm noticing though that although Steam GOTY is supposed to give me FO3 1.7, why does Wrye Flash report that my Fallout3.esm is version 1.4? That's strange. I guess the only thing left to do is to try to reinstall it. - edit/notes:It's not the ini, like I said. Fresh ini made by the Launcher with absolutely no edits will still crash the same way at exactly the same time, which is at that screen fade "Three years later".- It's should not be a corrupted save. First off, I don't save to the same file twice. It's also a brand new save. I also tried zipping through the whole thing without saving (just the game forced-autosaves), and then making a brand new save outside the G.O.A.T. classroom, where if I walk out of the classroom I end up going into that cutscene that causes the crash. Just an observation, you've done every thing else so that's what's left.
KDStudios
Download 1.7 from Bethesda themselves and use that to update (Unsure if it will work for Steam copy)
