MichikoUnknownFox
From the discussion here, I can say it appears as though you may have a corrupt 9*.bik) file Or possible permission issue on that file, if it's the later, it may be caused from Moving the files from one place to another and then putting them back, Windows 7 will lock them up if you do this, A small lock will appear on the files in question. Just an observation, you've done every thing else so that's what's left.I did move it following the instructions from Steam on how to move Steam and its games. But I don't see a lock. But you may be on to something here. I think I'll just reinstall. Hopefully that'll solve everything. I just wish I didn't have to redownload it. Such a waste of time and bandwidth. I guess that's the disadvantage with Steam as opposed to having it on a DVD somewhere. D:

ccmechanic2
resetting permissions on all the files is not hard but, a re install will be much faster. Just keep it in mind, when you want to put things else where in windows 7....Copy them to the new location and delete the originals. reboot, and then when ready, copy them back to the original pace and delete the backed up ones. reboot again. Run a registry cleaner to correct the damage and all things should appear normal. Just moving things around causes all sorts of mayhem.
MichikoUnknownFox
Thanks for the tips. I'm redownloading it now via Steam. My internet speed is fluctuating. Got 5% of 7.8 GB done in 3 hours lol. But whatever. Hopefully it'll be done by tomorrow. I'll update here if that by itself already fixes it or not. ccmechanic2
I would save up and go buy the DVD, Relying on steam is not a good Idea, to many things can go wrong with that much data transfer, But it does and is suppose to automatically fix things, I have had nothing but trouble with steams servers, On the week end I don't play, To many online. I let it connect just to launch the game, alt tab out and disconnect their server from my stuff, This way I receive nothing in an uninterrupted game. Dial up does have it's advantages. he he. I will be checkin in on ya, hope you get it fixed.
MichikoUnknownFox
I don't really have funds for that. Saving up for some of my more pressing real life needs. In reality I didn't even buy FO3 on Steam. A friend gave it as a gift, and it was on my Steam wish list. :( In any case my redownload will be done in a few hours. I'll run it immediately when it's finished and see if my game will continue through there. Another person mentioned that the video that's supposed to play at 9 years [after 10th birthday] may be broken or corrupted. At least, if it's still broken, I may be able to Google my way out of it. I hope I'm not the only one with this problem, etc., and that other people have already found the solution, etc.

MichikoUnknownFox
Okay, after some tedious scouring through Google, it seems this is a problem that happens to people once in a while. Somebody said that trying again (and again) to make a new game might fix it. I already tried that before, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try again. I tried making a new game again and it's fine now. At least, I got past that part when Amata wakes you up. I saved and came here to report. It seems it's a weird bug that happens now and then, but I find it odd that not a lot of people have reported it, and it hasn't been addressed at all as a result.
