THE MEGA MOD- Dragonlance idol mod

the alchemist next d

Recommended Posts

A while ago i got the idea to make the dragonlnce world(AKA Krynn) on the TES construction set, but i figured that it would take me about 20 years to finish the mod, not to mention the huge ammount of bugs that it would have, that would probably take me another year of fixing, plus i would need to get like ten thousand voice actors. but anyway i just wanted to know if any one would like to try it out. ok, just so the non dragonlance fans have an idea of how big Krynn is, id say it would probably take you a month of straight traveling to get from one side of the map of the other. interested in making it? email me at [email protected] or post a comment.

P.S: it would probably take us like 2 years if we were 50 people

P.P.S. it would probably take a frikin HD to store

P.P.P.S. i havent started yet

im a newbie with big dreams, so dont spoil them, make them possible

No offence but 50 people? You'll never get a team a fraction of that size. Sorry. Not to mention 2 years with 50 people...most modders are either deployed (making their own mod), dealing with real life, or just wont care about something like this. Not trying to be mean, only trying to let you see reality.

Second, I'm not entirely familiar with the world, but something that large would run into problems since the maximum size of any worldspace is fairly small, so any sort of large landmass would have to be broken up into pieces. There are probably a number of other things which just wouldn't work in Oblivion, as well as those things that may work, but not in any reasonable way.

Realistically, your best bet would be to try to stick with a small team, no more than 4-5 semi-skilled people, and only focus on one specific area within the realm. This is because the amount of work would be smaller, and trying to coordinate with alot of people would just be a management nightmare. When you come across things which those people cannot manage on their own (scripts, textures, meshes) only then do you look for people with those specific skills to lend some help to your already prepared mod. This is because most of those people have mods of their own that they're busy with, while they may not mind helping out someone else, it makes it less of a problem if things are prepared for their work the moment they're contacted. If asking for scripting, describe what you want done, and mention everything they could use to make it happen. If you're asking for retextures, provide the mesh, and describe how exactly you want it to look. If you're asking for meshes, provide source images from atleast 3 seperate angles with any details clearly shown, and make sure that what you want to do with the mesh is 100% possible and that the person making it is informed of what use it will have. Creature meshes, clothing meshes, armor meshes, new animations just won't happen, there aren't enough people who can actually do these, and those that can are usually overworked, and would only help out if they were personally interested in the project.

Additionally, you may need to contact the companies related to the series to get permission to use aspects of that world which they legally own. There was a LotR mod of some sort which was started, then legally shut down because these rights were not secured before starting.

If its going to need a HDD to store, why would people bother downloading it? No one would have the type of internet required, and know one would want to buy a new HDD just for a mod.

Just think realistically for a few seconds. There is no "Make new world" button that we can press that does this. Its hard work. If you really want to spend a few years making a new world go get a job doing world building for TES:V.

I think that he know what that is more then you. . .

You don't say that a mod is going to need a HD to store and request that 50 people joins you to fill your hard drive with data. Please be realistic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Realistic)

by saying that it will take a HD i mean that it would be a BIG mod, though not exactly a mod in a sense
