Aurielius
Though we have vocal members of both political persuasions we (that can vote) are all Americans that want what we think is best for the country. That is the common ground to start from. From my perspective it as just important to understand the inner thinking of my opponents as my allies. I think we can respect honestly held views though they are antithetical to our own and debate the ideas not the proponent. Basic Questions to open a dialogue: What issues are decisive in framing who you will vote for? How would the candidate that you support implement these core issues or values? Can assign a personal priority to these issues?
HeyYou
Most important issues to me are the Economy, and Second Amendment rights. I would like to see the free trade agreements significantly dialed back.... lets bring our manufacturing back to our shores, instead of placing it in a country we are likely to be at war with in the not so distant future...... Just putting america back to work at some of the good-paying jobs that fled our country would go a long way toward improving our economy... I also don't want to see politicians using 'gun rights' as a club..... The weapons they want to ban are used in less than 1% of gun crime. (crimes where a gun is indeed involved) I would also point out that 95% of weapons used in crimes, are already illegal for one reason or another. (stolen, person using it isn't legally permitted to carry weapons, etc.) The left seems to be missing that though.... As far as they are concerned, the GUN is the problem, not the person holding it. Some of the things they have in mind, like suing the manufacturer for the use of their product.... are outright stupid. By that stretch of logic, I should be able to sue the auto manufacturer of the vehicle that the drunk driver used to kill folks. Do we really want to open that can of worms? I would also like to see less involvement in foreign wars. Unfortunately, we are pretty much the ones responsible for starting that ball rolling...... however, I don't see any end in site. It's a money pit, and that's it. (not to mention the lives of our servicemen......)
Deleted54170User
Do you know about Arkancide? Fear drives more people to the polls to vote than alcohol or drugs. It is amazing how a foriegn countries wisdom makes up all the rules for everyone on Earth and divides the Countries so we think we are all from another race. "The Art of War" is seen clearly among the branches of all Earths People. It also stems from, "THE MOST POPULATED COUNTRY ON EARTH!"
